Spoken like a true liberal.
I don’t understand why liberals are always defending criminals.
That isn't what he said lol.
He said the system possibly failed in this instance, but generally instances such as these are publicized to rage bait, while the majority of the times when justice is done, you don't hear about it.
But you immediately resort to hyperbole such as "Our law and order is completely broken".
Our law and order is very good and works the way it should the majority of the times.
Which is why Canada is one of the safest countries in the world.

But errors happen. And the criminal courts err on the side of granting bail, because the alternative is to lock away people who are then often found not guilty.
I think they could have locked this one up without fear of error. Isn't exactly a head scratcher.
Except you weren't the bail court JP or the bail court crown and you don't know what happened at the hearing.
Person concerned likely has mental health problems - probably some combination of OCD and schizophrenia. Butchering him or sending him to a labour camp for the rest of his life is dumb and childish.

Well, that's what is important here. His mental health problems. Not her trauma.
Not at all.

But the system has to be functional and balanced. Go read a wiki article on sentencing principles.
No civilized western judicial system is going to even contemplate doing the nasty fantasy shit that you dream about.

What? putting him to work? A lot less nasty fantasy shit than he dreamed about and acted out on an innocent person.
That's not what you wrote.

It's not satiating my desire for revenge. It's satiating my desire for some kind of fucking order in society.
This society doesn't want order. I say let it burn. Some people only learn the hard way. Like this poor lady.

People who say the want order argue they want 100% of crime stopped and will support whatever police state tactics might make that happen.
But they refuse to look at police states to see what that means for life in general and crime.

Canada has good freedom and very excellent safety from crime.
You want less crime, work towards more social services and less poverty.

Mental health issues may qualify someone for
disability benefits in a civilized society. But it must
not be used to absolve the mentally deranged from
crimes of violence. Axel Rudakubana the UK teen who
stabbed 3 girls to death apparently did not receive
adequate services to address his autism. But the
deaths he caused wasn't the fault of the society.

And where has this worked? In Canada, not some Scandinavian country.

Its worked in places where its been tried.

Compare to the US where there is more poverty and fewer social services.
How are crime rates?
How about incarceration rates?

Think that's working better there?

Compare to El Salvador since Bukele came to power.
