Well 3 of those games will be the Canadian team game. That's a good start.

And to be honest even low ranking countries are great game to watch at the WC. This is the only true worldwide event/sports played in every country on earth.
Who cares, doesn't matter Canada will not win a game,

This is a collosal waste of tax payers money.

There's a municipal election coming in October and I hope this becomes an election issue and the whole damn thing gets cancelled.

Far better things to spend 300 million bucks on than a handful of soccer games. What a disaster.

Football is growing in Canada. The GTA alone has seven Academies for developing young talent. The ex-Woodbridge Academy, now know as the Ontario Soccer Center, developed Ashley Lawrence, perhaps the best all round female football player on Planet Earth.

Adrien Sousa from Vancouver, is the host of Rabona TV.

What money do they have to spend? I’m pretty sure MLSE will fund the stadium expansion since they own it. It’s only a few games there’s no need for more infrastructure expansion.

The Toronto economy will benefit from the tourism if anything.

It's 300 million dollars of taxpayer's money spent on hosting the event. There are 5 games I believe being played in Toronto, no playoff games.

That means that taxpayers are funding the party for Euro-elites to the tune of $50 million per game. That is the very definition of insanity.

300 million could buy a lot of MRI machines for hospitals. It could buy new schools, or even fix up old ones. It could buy long term care facilities, roads, bridges, sewers watermains, parks, You name it. I know it's not sexy, but it will make the GTA a better place for everyone. I'm a long way from a lefty, but I fucking hate seeing tax dollars thrown away on a circus like this. In addition, you just know that a whole pile of money will be paid in bribes to the FIFA officials. I recall when the Leafs were building their new arena, they tried to have the City of Toronto contribute towards its construction and the City said "NO, no taxpayers money will be spent on supporting professional sports teams in Toronto." Now here we are spending 300 million (and we all KNOW that by the time it's done, it will be more like 700 or 800 million) on being able to put on a soccer game where tickets will be unobtainable for the regular people (you know, the people who pay the taxes), gobbled up by international elites and jet setters, corporations and the like.

FUCKED UP.

And the worst was watching John Fucking Tory at some sort of announcement event jumping up and down like a 15 year old school girl when they announced that Toronto would be having the "privilege" of paying for this nonsense. Bloody embarrassing.

And we all know that this "Toronto will benefit from this circus to the tune of a billion dollars" is absolute rubbish. There is no way you can accurately calculate a number like that and for that matter, the city and the people of the city will not see a dime of any money that comes in from this. Let's be real here. If it's so damn lucrative, let FIFA and the teams playing pay for it.

I don't know where you're getting your figures from Tiberius?

Most of the infrastructure is already in place, there will be a bus route from Spadina Station to BMO Field, the corridor from Union Station to Skydome to BMO Field is almost complete. The biggest expense will be the east terrace at BMO, there's a building in the way. The Stadium was built for expansion like Bernebau was when it was first constructed in 1947. As an International banking capitol, the days of Toronto being a Presbyterian hick town have long passed, the city now lives by prestige events. With what the city already has in place, the price tag shouldn't exceed more than $120, beyond that and corruption has taken hold. I went to Giants Stadium back in 1994 to watch Italy vs Ireland, I've been waiting for our city to host WC matches ever since. The atmosphere in NJ, at the time, was electric.

Toronto will host more than 6 games, the playoffs hasn't been decided yet.
