A little late, but ...
This weekend is Pride.
Saturday afternoon hosts the Dyke March, a very special event and one that is not held everywhere.
A Woman's right to freely chose how to use her body, to decide about her sexuality, and to express it without fear of legal repercussion is very important. This march celebrates what mimimal amounts of each of these things women have in our culture.
Women't right to chose and rejoice in her sexuality is a founding principle upon which the legalization of prostitiution will be built. This march is part of that very important fight.
The Dyke March happens Saturday afternoon, starting at 2:00pm. It begins at Church and Charles, heads up Church to Bloor, west across Bloor and returns down Yonge north to Alexander.
Its a pretty good excuse to party in the streets on a nice summer day.
Women, come join in and swell the numbers. If you get the point, it doesn't really matter if you are a Dyke.
The big, corporate parade, where women will only be seen if you look closely, is on Sunday afternoon. Drop down to Church street over the weekend and take a look around.
Party on!
