Toronto Police are warning people after a series of violent robberies against three women while a fourth man was threatened at Kipling and Eglinton on Saturday afternoon.
“We have a man that’s targeted what appears to be women in their ‘60s and ‘70s,” said Toronto Police Const. David Hopkinson on CP24.
“They’ve been pushed violently to the ground. They’ve been robbed of their personal belongings — their purses — and he’s fled in the same car. My gut instinct as a police officer is he will have ditched that car. So I’d like people to focus on the car, we’d like to recover it, but he may be in another car. He may be changing his tactics now knowing that we’re looking for him.”
The suspect’s car is described as a white Nissan Rogue.
“He’s fairly violent in his attacks,” continued Hopkinson. “Fortunately we haven’t seen any significant injuries in these attacks as yet but it just looked, based on how we were getting (the information about the robberies) that it was going to continue and it was going to escalate.”
Hopkinson said the three separate robberies against the women all happened in a ten minute window between 12:38 p.m. and 12:48 p.m and he believed the fourth man was threatened possibly during an attempted car jacking that failed.
“(It’s) very disturbing because this all happened in a very small area,” he said.
So far no suspect description has been released.
