Wow 97 charges..

A Toronto man is facing nearly 100 charges in connection to multiple fraud investigations stemming back to last year, according to police.

Police say between April 2021 and February of this year, a man allegedly defrauded several people in Toronto by using fake cheques.

Officers say it’s being alleged that a man would reach out to victims through Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, and Snapchat, agree to buy merchandise, mostly designer clothing and shoes, then pay for the items using fraudulent cheques that were deposited through mobile banking.

Police say the cheques would be more than the items bought and then the victims would transfer the difference back to the man.

The cheques were placed on hold and found to be fraudulent, police say, and the man was already gone with the money and merchandise.

Police say on Monday, 22-year-old Tyrese Campbell-Fraser was arrested and charged with five counts of fraud over $5,000, 29 counts of fraud under $5,000, 30 counts of causing another person to act on a forged document, four counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of uttering threats, and 27 counts of failing to comply with probation.

Campbell-Fraser appeared in court on Thursday and investigators believe there’s more alleged victims.

Campbell-Fraser is described to 6 feet tall, weighing 180lbs, with braided hair with fade on the sides, and a black beard, and tattoos of “Heaven Fraser” on his right forearm, and “514” on his left forearm.

He'll get a slap on the wrist and some community service. And, later on, an apology from Junior.
