Asymetric warfare 101
basic rules for terrorists; [to defeat the enemy, you must first understand the enemy]
1: they want maximum media exposure [ie: the bus bombed in London UK on 7/7, 911]
2: targets of symbological value are picked. [wtc]
3: targets with large numbers of people [transit, large buildings etc]
4: suicide is painless [or so they say] and makes it much harder to defend against
5: change tactics swiftly [we're always trying to defend against the last attack]
6: soft targets are picked [attackers follow path of least resistance]
and
7: when in doubt, toss the manual and improvise.
the bad guys are definately real and definately out to get us. [nope, not being paranoid, no really!]
the problem is, how do you defend against an enemy thats quite happy to die????? [without turning into some nasty sort of police state...]
PS: Gimme: the SAM thing at the airport was an emergency preparedness exercise NOT an attack.
