In all the people I've spoken to in real life, everybody cares about human life. I associate with decent, nice, empathetic people. I've never heard anyone say they don't care how many people die. I think, and call me naive but I think you'd be wrong, that most people in Canada are genuinely compassionate, well-adjusted and wired to care. You can see how those small minority/lunatic fringers such as yourself and the wing-nuts at the protests are just "off". There's something not quite right upstairs. I feel sorry for you/them. Living a life without compassion isn't much of a life. Did your grandparents mistreat you when you were younger, out of curiosity?
I've noticed some folks who don't have empathy for others, where they bloviate and suggest death, and jail, and prejudice is ok change their minds once someone in their lives has that issue or problem. Thus they hate gays until their daughter announces she is gay. Hate drug abusers calling them scum and throw 'em in gaol until rush limbaugh gets hooked up on an oxy charge. Hate criminals until their father commits fraud and goes to gaol. I suppose that's progress.

No issues with my grandparents, or my parents. i wrote a post about my grandmother on a different thread a few months ago, which is related to this virus.

Sorry, but I am not going to cry for the world because people died. People die every day, been happening since the start of time, it will happen to all of us and to all those that come after us. That's life.

The lunatics are the ones who insist the world needs to come to a stand still to treat a virus that in all likely hood cannot be cured with a vaccine. Seems like the only defence you have once the virus gets in is your immune system.
Interesting. I honestly can't recall ever meeting someone as calloused and damaged as you in real life...not in the last couple decades anyways. I know they're out there, in very small numbers mind you, when I see them at the protests and the internet message boards spewing their internal misery but never come across them in real life interactions. As someone with some empathy, I do feel sorry for you.
