I've had 3 teeth crack. All had to be pulled. No other alternatives. In my case, I've never had any cavities, but hard teeth are prone to cracking.

I've got two implants now and I agree with you. Don't bother with a bridge. An implant looks like a tooth, acts like a tooth, maintains like a tooth.

Only problem is $3,600.00 when all is said and done per tooth.

Ya, but that month of eating through an straw is a bitch.

Is there not an EMERG DENTIST in yout city who can treat you now!!!!!!!!!!!
After 15 calls, no. A dentist will not touch me, I require an oral surgeon as the tooth is both partially impacted and cracked.

No, it's a process. The only tough part is the implant itself and 2 days later, I was fine.

Ouch ! All the playing you could do with 3.6G.

Take care of your teeth, more money for play.
You can take care of your teeth all you want. I always have mine cleaned every six months, don't eat any sugar (other than what's in food) and had NO cavities ever.

But one day, you bite down on some food and you actually hear a loud Crunch as your tooth cracks vertically. At first you deny it happened, but later your gum starts to swell and puss and the pain grows. You try antibiotics, that works, but only briefly.

Finally you figure out that your tooth is cracked and you can't do fuck all to save it and out it comes.

It has nothing to do with taking care of your teeth.

I agree. I brush my teeth three times a day, and floss daily, but sometimes shit happens. On the bright side, it is the rear molar, so I will probably do fine without it and it will not be noticeable. Still sucks ass though.

I initially lost a 2'nd from the rear lower molar.

Lived for maybe 5 years without.

Then I had the one on the other side crack (so at least I was now symmetric). But having lost 2 lower molars was too much, so I decided to get the first implant.

When a third tooth cracked, I got the second implant.

So, I'm still 1 molar short.

Never mind - I'm due for a 4'th because I have / had 2 baby teeth that never fell out. They were never meant to last so long.

The other two, one was a small shard of bone or something hard in my food that I chomped down on. The other I don't remember what I was eating.

Anyway, it's a real ordeal.

I have to make a conscious effort to chew without so much force.

I had some impacted wisdom teeth that had to be "cut" out of the gum. Yes, they cut the gum and then they break the tooth into sections and remove the pieces. They gave me Tylenol 3 for when the freezing wore off.

Unfortunately there is no company dental plan, as I am self employed. I have already been to the dentist, and an appointment has been made for an oral surgeon for the extraction. Unfortunately the root canal is out of the question, as the tooth has literally cracked in half. The pain was tolerable until a couple of nights ago, but getting progressively worse (especially at night). Why do things always hurt more at night?
I have the same thing happen to me one time. i was in in tear and it hurt more than other thing women usually go through. Before I got some meds I drinka mickey of vodka to ease the pain and i dont really drink! If appt is book, go directly to dentist clinic and ask or beg for perscription for tylenol 3 or something similar to penacillin if you not allergic.. I cant remember the correct name. They will probably pull out the remaining half of your tooth and cleam it out if there is infection and then maybe an implant. Go now to get some pain med. Or you regret it. Trust me.

There is a lot more to taking care of your teeth then just brushing and having them cleaned every six months.
