It's bloody throbbing. I have an appointment to get it pulled, but until then, any remedies?

Right now I have taken Advil (lots of it) and Oragel to try to numb it. Not working at all.

Any ideas?

I have the first two (from previous medical conditions), and Absinthe. But I refuse to take them, they fuck me up too much and I have kids.

Maybe as a last resort.

I do believe the hospital will pull it if you cannot wait until morning ... no idea if they would make you wait or not.

Hey Player, DON'T GET IT PULL. Your dentist can do a root canal, clean out the infection (if any) and then install a crown. Your company dental plan will probably cover 50%, 80% or 100% of the cost.

Query: Are you sure it is a tooth and not an infected sinus?

They won't help. You just have to suck up the pain (or go to a clinic and get prescription painkillers). Orajel is useless, just throw it out.

Old fashioned oil of cloves is remarkably effective.

Unfortunately there is no company dental plan, as I am self employed. I have already been to the dentist, and an appointment has been made for an oral surgeon for the extraction. Unfortunately the root canal is out of the question, as the tooth has literally cracked in half. The pain was tolerable until a couple of nights ago, but getting progressively worse (especially at night). Why do things always hurt more at night?

Doesn't anyone use a length of string and a door handle any more?

I would also say don't get it pulled if possible. Get a root canal and crown.

You say it's cracked in half; but, as long as the cracked in half is only something that is going on above the gum line it's no problem to create a crown with what's left behind.

If you do get it pulled save your money for a dental implant and don't bother with dirty/messy/cheaper bridge work.

Nice Dens
Have you considered "wanking" for an hour and trying to forget about your tooth?

How do you think I made it through the night without shooting myself?:p
I have much experience with sever toothaches. Robaxecet with 8mg. codiene is very effective. it will make you feel very drowsey, but not as messed up as percs. You have to ask the pharmacist for it, but no prescription needed. I find taking it with advil is very effective. Naproxen (Aleve in the US) is also very good, but in Canada a prescription is required. No prescription for Aleve is needed in the US if you are close to the border. It will make you drowsey.

I've had 3 teeth crack. All had to be pulled. No other alternatives. In my case, I've never had any cavities, but hard teeth are prone to cracking.

I've got two implants now and I agree with you. Don't bother with a bridge. An implant looks like a tooth, acts like a tooth, maintains like a tooth.

Only problem is $3,600.00 when all is said and done per tooth.
