I had the same thought

The interesting stuff starts at about 3:30, release brakes at 8:33
LOL that's so bad it's funny........

Maybe the various airlines should start flying C-130's and have "fatty only" flights? They have 10 seats per plane and each is the size of a loveseat. Each seat costs $10,000.00 but hey, there'd be no seat overlapp!

Heck, they could do away with boarding ramps and install cargo nets to load the passengers

They could do away with snack carts and install feed troughs
They could do away with those little tiny drink bottles and beer bottles and provide a draft keg per passenger

Heck, maybe we should start up an airline catering to heavy weights?

I can see it now: instead of a check in desk, they have a cargo desk and they load you onto a pallet and take you to the plane via forklift lol

(oh I'm going to hell for this I know I am lol)

Smith has about 100 tweets on the situation, as well as an in depth podcast. Have at 'er...
The only tweets I know about are from the birdies outside my window and podcasts? Isn't that from a movie with Nicole Kidman?

I was on a flight to the west coast yesterday and I was reminded of this thread...

Picture if you will... 3 GUYS this size (or close to it...) Sitting in the same trio of seats! This exact thing happened yesterday! Directly in front of me was a miserable fat guy... And he was complaining to the flight attendant that they were too crammed... and were those 3 seats across from me taken. She explained that yes, those seats were taken and he would have to make do with what he had. I could see he wasn't happy about it... and I could over hear him talking to his companion in the seat beside him... he was grumbling the entire flight! It wasn't until the guy in the window seat had to go to the bathroom late in the flight that I realized why he was so PO'd! ALL three of them looked to be the size of the guy in the OP's post! I mean the smallest of the three musta been 275 or more!

Well ya know... While I was thinking about THIS thread, the thought of poet justice also ran through my mind! Hee hee... I mean what are the chances that the 3 biggest guys (that I could see anyway) on the entire flight were all sitting next to each other. (Well, 2 of them were traveling together...)

Talk about ressurrecting the dead thread!

I just heard Kevin Smith this morning on The Edge and he explained the situation in full and I change my tune, I fully support him. It seems the Southwest "rule" is that a person doesn't have to purchase two seats if they can put the armrests down easily and fully. He was seated in the plane when a counterperson came to the plane and gave him a BS story about the pilot requesting that he leave citing that he was a safety risk. Kevin then said but wait, your rule is the armrests have to go down easily and look, they go up and down.

Anyhow, bottom line is he thought it was just someone giving him the gears.......

Hey I'm 6'3 and 250 lbs - I do not consider my overweight - and I barely fit in those stupid airline seats that seem to be made for dwarfs
Nobody but children can fit comfortably in those seats. One reason that I hate flying.

Having an obese person sitting beside you would make a barely tolerable trip, intolerable.

Wish I could afford my own private jet.

When I was in LA one trip, the hotel I was at was having a fat convention. We are talking gross freak show stuff. While I was relaxing by the pool I heard two of these beached whales complaining the the airlines discriminate against them for stewardess jobs. A) these ladies were so fat, I think they would have to be oiled down to squeeze them through the door. B) forget the food cart - I could not see how they expected to get down the aisle without seriously injuring adjacent passengers. C) if they gathered in any one area of the plane, it could roll over.

I hate sitting beside a fat person on the plane and the armrest usually when down, simply disappears in the fat rolls and become ineffective at securing your own space on the trip.

Sorry - no sympathy here.

I fit just fine in airline seats... Went to Newark yesterday morning, back to Toronto in the evening... Flight down- no problem, (except customs and security at Pearson was for SHIT!), sat beside a rather "large" order woman on the way back... but size wasn't the biggest problem...

(Some people need to learn about proper hygiene and odor management ESPECIALLY in close quarters!)

wait, what's your point? That Hang and others don't want to share my seat with someone else? Sorry, I have no sympathy for those overweight just like many have no sympathy for me because I smoke. I can't smoke on flights anymore because it bothers other passengers and the same should be for overweight people.
So another overweight passanger is hazardous to your health? You can hardly make the comparison between someone being obese and smoking. One gives other people lung cancer, the other doesn't.
