Chris Hedges had it right when he wrote of people like Robbins, that he fulfills the fundamental role in the North American psyche of convincing people that everything that happens in their lives is in Their Control (laughable), and that if good things don't happen, it's all their fault because they just didn't WANT it hard enough.

Of course all this self - blaming nonsense allows the political and economic elites to shuck off all responsibilities to the working class for providing the support structures (training, portable health care, blah blah blah) that the working class REALLY needs to be successful. Bright teeth may appear to be innocuous but he really isn't, he's actually a symptom of an disintegration of the social contract...err, o.k., that was a little too heavy.

i think this guy is vile in his stunning misrepresentation of reality and his "no such thing as a coincidence" crap

he sends the gullible down the path of pure misery

at least robbins has some value in his hodge podge of stolen ideas
Dyer preaches mystical crap

they adore him and Chopra ( ugh!!! what a scientific illiterate and total idiot !!!) on public TV during donation drives which is why i refuse to donate

Yeah, he's another one of those Gurus whose essential message is; " you're just not trying hard enough, and what yer doin' is all wrong....here, try this instead." Meanwhile people like Dubya, one of the elite in the US, can smoke dope in his youth to his heart's content, fail repeatedly at anything he attempted, evade national service in Viet Nam, and STILL his network of friends and family fixers make sure all of that don't matter when he wants to run for president of the US...lol. Ya see, Shrub made it 'cause he found God, not because of those other things like support, money and family connections. But the great unwashed, why they don't need those pesky support mechanisms, do they? Just watch Oprah.

try compare the teachings of scientology to groups like Tony Robbins lectures and other LGAT groups you will find similarities

from the scientology dot ca website

Scientology is a twenty-first-century religion. It comprises a vast body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths, and prime among those truths: Man is a spiritual being endowed with abilities well beyond those which he normally envisions. He is not only able to solve his own problems, accomplish his goals and gain lasting happiness, but he can achieve new states of awareness he may never have dreamed possible.

it has always been so

people have a hard to define need

a need for a someone who has the answers

a father figure if u will

a need for deeper understanding

a need to belong

a need to feel special

a need to believe they are capable of anything even when they r not

these organizations tap into this weakness

now me i just wanna get laid

So tell me guys what do you think of this law of attraction thingggy? ever see the secret? I am interested to know what you guys think of it
Jessy if u have an opinion different than mine then stick with it unless my logic wins u over

if u think robbins is the genuine article u r not alone and a lot of bright people agree with u

law of attraction ?

what law ?

the law of electromagnetism states that opposites attract and has nothing to do with human endeavors but atomic alignment and electromagnetic waves and potential energy etc

the law of attraction is the nonsense Dyer and Chopra "teach"

people believe it as a result of a poor science education where they have not been taught to think rationally

it travels like a cancer into those not inoculated with a rationale mind

i believe robbins does not talk about mysticism (am i wrong ?) and he deals with reality which is why he has some validity in my opinion and i would go see him if the prices were not so outlandish

the law of attraction is unproven made up feel good crap that has as much basis in reality as the easter bunny

it is the name given to the belief that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results.

This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and the belief that like energy attracts like energy.

ugh!!!!

what kind of science is this???

it gets worse

nutbars like chopra use a incorrect understanding of quantum physics terminology to try to explain such mysticism with fucked up science

now people go around with bad science in their head

Believing in people like Robbins is like accepting as fact the beliefs of a Jehova's Witness.

It is certainly true that negative thinking and behaving will bring negative results and the reverse is also demonstrable. If you treat people kindly you are more likely to be treated kindly by them, whereas if you call them a piece of shit they will probably bust your nose.
Sometimes you have to recognize good fortune when it presents itself and if you are too jaded and pessimistic you may not see it.
Also, you need to be confident and optimistic when attempting a challenging feat, and if you are not, you will probably fail or not even try.
But you don't need Robbins to figure this out ....he is the archetypical greedy power hungry con man!

I went to that event and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I think motivational speakers are great for young people in my generation. I would not spend money and attend his 3-5 day seminars but I absolutely loved the speakers like Joe Plumeri and Loretta Laroche.

The reason I wanted to see him in person was because I've read all of his books and loved them!

If Samson had used Tony Robbins jaw as a weapon, he would have slaughtered the known world.

I would pay money to attend a seminar with David Einhorn - but I question his loyalty to Apple.

Whats the big deal? Donald Trump also charges such prices for his talks, as does Bill Clinton.
There was another guy - Ray something from "the secret", he is in jail right now. One of his events lead to the deaths of 10 people.

I personally have only watched Brian Tracey's talks (on youtube).

I would be cumming too if people were willing to pay 100's of dollars to see me talk.

Years ago, I ordered a 6-4 track tape set of his talks.

Basically, he was selling self-help advice and psychotherapy to the masses.

C'mon Mila... you know you went because he has a reputation for big balls and a huge cock, and you thought "you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket!" :biggrin1:

He is the secular equivalent of a televangelist, and just as toxic.
Amen brother! He is a false prophet, and will burn in the lake of fire! I'd rather go to church than hear his crap!

"Motivational Speakers" and their audiences face an inherent conflict that causes harm to their audience members.

Their job, by definition, is to "motivate" their audience. Now motivation can be a good thing, but it can also be manipulation. If their job is to "motivate" people, and if they have to be good at it, that means that they need to "manipulate" as many people into feeling motivated - and that is an inherent conflict in what they do. They are no better than narcotics. The better they are the worse they are for their audience's psychology.
