Been lots of posts about the Letterman thing but something about it bugs me.

I've three daughters. If Letterman said something about one of my girls, I'd be in the audience the next night and up on the stage as soon as he came in. I'd break his blanking jaw.

Now Todd Palin is some sort of a physical dude. Why wouldn't he speak out or call Letterman out for those remarks?

What would you do were you Todd?

Please: no Sarah political junk.

If I were Todd I'd be telling Sarah and the kids to lighten up because I understand the concept of humour.

Now if I were Todd and I believed this was a baseless insult (rather then a rational understandable joke) I would still hold back despite wanting to snap because I'm not gonna fuck up my wife's career by going crazy in a way that will negatively reflect her.

The problem is that you rather than Letterman would be going to Jail and Letterman would sue. If you verbaly confronted him it would merely be a continuation of previous posts on this topic with all sorts of people calling you rather than Letterman names.

Actually they'd be calling his WIFE names. Or even if the criticism stayed purely on Todd it would still harm her political future. Bill Clinton's anger at the media hurt Hillary in her campaign, I'd argue far more then any wife has harmed a husbands campaign. Sexist as it is the media seems to judge a female politician by her husband far more then a male one by his wife (unless your Al Gore.)

Wel then you'd have to break your own jaw first for trotting out your kid and putting them into the spotlight. Once you start using your children as props for your campaign you open the door to public ridicule.

It's funny how the "Right" has forgotten about the jokes and public attacks that were heaped on a 13 year old Chelsea Clinton.

Although their ages vary from pre-teens to adults, I seem to recall the Obama's children being "trotted out into the spotlight" the same with Senator Kerry's daughters, Senator Edwards children, and the children of numerous Representatives and Governors (not to mention M.P.'s, M.L.A.'s etc. . .) it is important to note that there is a difference between being on the platform and actively campaigning.

Likewise there is an important difference between saying that a parent's stance on an issue is the opposite to what their own children have done, be that drug use, criminal activity, pre-marital sex, unwed motherhood or what ever and attacking the child. Far more than I can recall for any other politician's children in my memory it would seem the Palin children are being personally attacked.

BUT that was months after the election. So if Ted Kennedy had a child (particularly one that was "University age") that decided to become a spokesperson for AA or MADD that would make them fair game? I don't see how the situations would be different.

The proper comparison would be if Ted had become a spokesperson for AA or MADD, not one of his kids.

In the case of Palin's adult daughter Bristol she is fair game. Her mother decided for the sake of political points to trot and her personal life on stage, and by the fact that after the campaign for VP was over she's still in the spotlight implicates her too.

Look at GW Bush's kids. They were kept out of the spotlight for both of their father's campaigns. Even with their "wild-child" partying antics there was little mainstream press about it, they were never brought on stage to prove any political point as Palin did with her pregnant daughter and the biological father.

I fail to see how being on the platform when your mother accepts the nomination and again on Election night constitutes making someone "fair game." Likewise months after the election publicly talking about your experience as a single mother should open you up to personal attacks? I guess I'm just getting too old - but that is not the way we should behave.

Even David Letterman albeit under a great deal of outside presure has finaly admitted that it was something he never should have said no matter which daughter he meant to aim the joke at.

It's because Sexy Sarah is trying to play it for media attention, not for the apology. She has learned that as long as they get your name right, all media exposure is pretty good.

She is a loser bitch, her daughter (older) got knocked up under age, and Sarah needs to learn how to take a joke.

Her 15 minutes should have been up long ago.
