So, I went down to 1 Front Street (old post office) to pay my taxes. The two drop off boxes were covered with black garbage bags. I banged on the door and the security guard inside made the universal "go away" hand signal.

Then I noticed that there was a sign that said approval had been received to construct twin towers. Probably another souless condo and/or office tower.

Then went down to Scotia Arena. That place is in total lockdown. All I saw were "rent a cops". No, didn't see any NHL hockey players.

Looked across the street and CIBC Square is progressing as we speak. Don't they know everybody is working from home so we don't need large office edifices downtown anymore?

Oh what the heck. Decided to go to Hanlan's Point see if there are any naked women. Another "rent a cop" said the last ferry had left for the day (it was only 4:10PM).

What a waste of an afternoon. Couldn't pay my taxes, didn't see any NHL players and didn't see any naked women.

1. Those two drop off boxes were sealed once they ordered the lock down. They have been sealed for months. Who knows, they might never be reopened.

2. It seems like half the office buildings downtown you needed a card to enter during the lock down. It has loosen up lately. Who knows if they will go full-China again on us in the fall. They probably will.

3. Never been to Hanlan's Point. I would be scared to have people (who I did not pay in advance) to witness me naked. Au naturel seems so awkward and unnatural.

4. John Tory is a useless slug, he probably played for the Maple Leafs at one point or another. He has to cut $1 or $2 billion from the city budget due to no more $moolaa$ coming in. But that gutless puke will blame Rob Ford for this mess. Everyone tightens their belt expect Toronto City Hall and rent-a-cop.

5. Disillusionment in society will increase, which probably will usher in a socialist government at the Federal level. Either the NDP wins or the Liberal go lefty left left like a dirty bird at naked joint Hanlan's Point. The only upside is free money for the unwashed masses.

6. There will be no inflation. There will be asset inflation, but that is good, like real good.

This is how it works, some guy said it in another forum. What happen is with the bailouts in the United States, the rich get most of the billions, and they keep most of that for themselves. They do not go out and buy stuff, only assets like stocks and real estate. They will not buy more food or shop more at Wal-Mart. The rich will just keep their bailout money, and won't spend in on consumer goods like the rest of us, which automatically means no inflation. I burst out laughing when I read that, because that is absolutely right!

They can have the Fed run the printing presses indefinitely, give most of that money to the rich, who will take it to the stock market, and give some (a little bit of it) to the rest of society, but that kind of distribution of free money will not cause inflation.

This is brilliant!

CERB forever!

Oppression forever!

Dartsy, you could have spared yourself the useless hassle by paying your property taxes online.

...unless you just want to complain?

I thought that since we are now in Stage 3, they would open up those damn boxes. I WANT TO PAY MY TAXES! I even banged on the door!

It was actually my income taxes. By dropping off a physical cheque it takes the CRA 10-15 days to clear the cheque so I keep my money earning interest at 2% a bit longer.

BTW: For those who have 2019 income taxes owing, the due date is September 1st.

The CRA is still closed with respect to public access to buildings. That office has been closed since March 16 and things get done online as much as possible. All this for protection of the public and of its employees.

Almost everything done for the public done remotely by the much maligned civil servants.

Since we are now in Stage 3, why can't the CRA at least open the drop boxes that are physically outside the building? Or, maybe allow people inside as long as they are wearing masks? (I assume the CRA is still accepting mail delivered by Canada Post. Of course, CERB got hacked because everything was done online.)

Dartsy you need a good accountant, I haven't had a "notice of assessment" since I stopped preparing my taxes myself. I've gotten a return every year. Remember the golden rule, if he/she is a disheveled nerd hire them. If he/she is dapper with perfect hair then....

To add insult to injury, I missed the last ferry to Hanlan's and it was only 4:10 PM on a sunny Friday afternoon.

This country is going to heck in a handbasket. End of rant.

I cannot and will not comment on this. Sorry.
