The leds do last longer CFL does not. I have some leds that are a close match to tungsten in their light colour. Currently leds are too higher priced but so were cfls when they first came out. Also the drop in wattage in a led is very dramatic and cost saving. To get led lights like the kickstarter light in the link just go to an apple store since you can buy the philips bulbs there that do the same thing. I also have leds in the garage and they turn on instantly like tungsten even in the cold.
Time to start hoarding. 1 more year till no more incandescent light bulbs in Canada

a lot trust me... I've been looking for 3D printers on that site that give outputs like the ones produced by big corporations which sadly go for $10K for the cheapest unit. The group of MIT students who designed their own and were offering them for around $2000 made over $2million in just 2 days. There were supporters who donated $10K for their units. These small startups are a big threat to big corporations, one of whom decided to sue these students for fear they'd eat into their profits big time and accusing them of using patented technology. Luckily, these students have plenty of supporters on their side and weren't going to back away from threats.
yeah.. i guess kickstarter is more a platform to support independent designers/inverntors bring out a new product that we would otherwise never see anytime soon and also to be one of the first to use a new tech/service, as opposed to buying a product/service that is already out there for cheap. Ofcourse, no one wants to pay that much for a lightbult but these prices will eventually come down once they go into production in China.
