Tim Hortons new lids suck

O

OnTheWayOut

I don't go to Tims that often these days. Their coffee is not that great, they discontinued the blueberry fritter and their soups are not what they used to be. I was in the mood for a steeped tea yesterday and zipped in for one. I was surprised to see the new lid, noticing it seemed a lot like what McDonalds has been using for years. Except it doesn't work as good. McD's you can push the flap down with your lip and get a healthy slug of coffee or tea. With Tim's new lid it is a struggle to get enough without bending the flap backwards to make the opening bigger. Oh well, just another reason to go elsewhere......

Simple solution, do what I do every morning when I get my Timmies fix, I bring your own thermos. I found when you deal with the same staff every morning, (some of them), will actually give you a $.25 break on the price!

GTA & Thereabouts...
I think the new lids are slightly better than their shit-show ones we all previously suffered from.... Having said that, I spend thousands on coffee every single year. That is what truly sucks.

Not only do the lids suck but so does the coffee.
Get your coffee somewhere else.
By the way their breakfast sandwiches are terrible, often very cold with untoasted English muffins.

The new lids are poorly designed...I can no longer carry my coffee cup between my teeth while carrying other crap because the lid pops up too high!

Assholes! WTF?

As a non-Canadian I love the Tim Horton's threads:

"Tim Horton's changed __________. Now it sucks!"

I resent Tim Hortons very clever marketing crap that they are the all Canadian coffee franchise along with their lift up the rim to win nonsense

They oppress franchisees along with non paid breaks for employees

I like these lids better than the old ones. And I agree with you 1000% on the elimination of the blueberry fritter. Worst thing they ever did.

I'm with you on that. The old ones leaked as the opening was flush with lip. Any minor application of the gas, brakes or turning a corner, they'd spill all over the place. I don't drink coffee, just the occasional tea, but I know what good coffee tastes like. And Tim Hortons tastes awful.

The new ones leak as well when you are walking. McDonalds ones are way better.

Elimination of the Dutchie did it for me...still but hurt at that one :/

BTW, for those who miss blueberry fritters, there is a place in Kingston that makes them. They are larger and bit more sugary but not bad.

Coffee Way Donuts, 472 Division St, Kingston, ON. They have a lot of good stuff. For you GTA guys it is a bit of a drive but it is only a couple km off the 401 if passing thru.

I patronize Tim Horton's maybe one a year. I used to be a die hard fan. Then I got to thinking one day while waiting in the drive through. It takes 10 minutes to go through the drive-thru. Five times a week = 50 minutes so let's round it up to an hour a week. That's four hours a month, 48 hours a year. Each visit, spend $2.00, so $2.00 times five days per week times 50 weeks comes to $500.00. Conclusion; I used to spend more than a work week waiting in line once a day to spend $500.00 every year. Now I just brew an extra cup at home and take it with me in a travel mug. No big deal. Eventually, after a couple of forgotten travel mugs, I got used to the change. And about the same time, I began using 2% milk and a little sweetener rather than the 18% cream and sugar. Now my coffee tastes like coffee and not maple syrup !
