Tim Hortons coffee

I have asked this question to Tim Hortons staff but never got a straight answer from them. Is there a secret ingredient that
they add to the coffee ? If not, why is it that the coffee they sell seems to taste a bit inferior when brewed in my coffee maker at home ?
I mean, the Tim Hortons flavour is still there but the coffee lacks the "bite" of real Tim Hortons coffee.

Maybe part of the flavour, that bite, comes from the glue in paper Tim Hortins coffee cups. Would suggest you buy their cups too

Their $5,000 coffee makers are calibrated at specific temprature settings, drip flow rates, and water volumes.

Try brewing any coffee grinds using 5 different coffee makers and you will get 5 cups of coffee that taste about the same but slightly different.

The coffee maker, how the water is filtered and the temprature makes a whole world of difference.

It's the Water Filter in the Coffee makers

You might want to try making it with bottled water, or get a decent water filtration system connected to your faucet.

The one we bought works great, kicks out the chlorine, potential e-coli, and has a UV filter to boot. It's a bit pricey, but I want to make sure my kids are getting safe water, and it makes my coffee taste better too.

They never let you touch the mixture of the coffee, the staff always put the sugars and cream so it taste the same all the time when you purchase a coffee at timmy's. But since you made it yourself, the mixture might be off, b/c you put too much cream or sugar.......or maybe they use spooge in the brewing process....that's the reason for tangy taste

water temperature, the purity or lack thereof of the water itself and the coffe pot itself all react to give a different taste.

I worked at Tim Hortons for four months, and can tell you that there is nothing special about the way the prepare it. Coffee is always fresh, if it's twenty minutes old, it is thrown out, even if it's a whole pot, although some employees cheat by changing the time on the pot and extending it's expiration date.

The milk, sugar, and cream that goes into it the coffee is all standard, nothing special. But it is very carefully calibrated, and dispensed by machine. You can never duplicate the precision manually.

You are probably buying their cans, which are not be good as the small packets of coffee Tim Hortons uses for its own coffee. When you open the can, the coffee is exposed to air and after time makes the coffee stale. Tim Horton's doesn't use the canned coffee, we used one-pot sized coffee pouches, and had to use them immediately after opening. They sell those coffee pouches too, and they are provide a better taste.


So:

1)Buy the coffee pouches (the one's Tim Horton's uses for its coffee)

2)Try making the coffee with spring water, it should improve the taste.

3)Use a Tim Horton's cup for the coffee, you can buy those too.

4)Use premium cream and sugar, milk, etc.

I think it's the cup, if you take the coffee home and pour it to another cup it taste different.

I understood that they have Goober running from Tims to Tims and he personally has to stick his finger into ever pot they brew. It gives it that special "ZING"
