Lets see Somalia - remember Black Hawk down in part caused by the fact there was no armor - a decision which came down from Washington. Then there was Serbia, hey lets blow up a Orthodox Christian Country to protect Moslems - who then can come to the U.S. and try to make a terrorist attack on a U.S. Army Base, oh, and at the same time we can bomb the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.

It really doesn't change your point except to say who are you going to find. There seems to be much nostalgia for WJC but he was never in combat. And in fact I don't believe there is a single current Democratic contender for President who has been in combat.

If that is true, it is a hell of a coincidence, but I think you have a valid point about capitalism....

That said, I would be very, very mildly surprised if Baghdad did not have a McDonald's. Prior to Gulf War I, Iraq was a pretty "middle class" country as these things go on the world stage (keep in mind that the U.S. and Canada would be "rich", not "middle class" by world standards). Plenty of educated people with business and professional jobs and disposable income, along with an affinity for things Western.

Maybe Mickey Dee's left town after Gulf War I...

It is a sad story and article. Thank you for sharing. I don't know if their love will last, as many childhood sweetheart marriages don't last - and they don't have to deal with what Renee and Ty are dealing with. They will likely have many difficult times ahead. I wish them well...

Seeing that guys picture reminded me of a tech teacher I had in High school. He was from the UK and was one of the original Guinea Pigs as they were called. Fire can do terrible things to flesh.
