I'd seen that one picture around on the net, but never read the story.
If you all read the story it's quite sweet. It's a sad story but if that love holds up and they stay together, that would be perfect.

That story makes up for a lot of garbage in this world.

It is a sad story and article. Thank you for sharing. I don't know if their love will last, as many childhood sweetheart marriages don't last - and they don't have to deal with what Renee and Ty are dealing with. They will likely have many difficult times ahead. I wish them well...
Holy shit...I never saw this before...it's true...she's doing it out of guilt. She looks shocked in the pictures.
you guys are absolutely fucking unbelievable, just because some of you have lousy relationships doesnt mean you have to impose them on everyone else on the planet, how do you know she is doing it out of guilt? or that they will split up?
what no one has ever taken a bad pic? she could have been nevous that day of her wedding, there are a million reasons why she looks like that in that pic, maybe the caterers or the florists screwed up, anyone who has seen a woman on her wedding day knows she turns into something between Gengis Khan and Darth Vader.

I hope they make it too, however, I'm not confident.
It's 50 50 with any marriage, let alone this one.
Still, it is not impossible that they will make it. He's a lucky man in some ways for sure.
Sort of drives home the uselessness of the Iraq war however. We always hear about the numbers killed, but what about the numbers that have been horribly maimed. You don't hear too much about them.
I have to wonder if there isn't something that could be done for him though, something more by a gifted plastic surgeon.

The "science" of military or battlefield medicine has progressed to the point
where the majority of injured will survive, many with horrible disabilities.
In prior wars they would have died.
