Fucking supermarket owners are douchebags.
If it weren't for the vets, they probably wouldn't have the opportunity to run/won the supermarket.
(then again, they are a German based company, go figure...maybe it's their form of payback...)

It crossed my mind the other day, how sad it is that these guys fought in the war, did something that not many would have done and years later are out there selling poppies based on a donation and I see PLENTY of people walk on right by them.

Pretty pathetic and sad.

Extremely poor taste on the part of the supermarket. Personally, if I were in England I would likely not be shopping there.

Having said that, I'd fight tooth and nail for the supermarket's right to choose NOT to allow the veterans to set up shop. It's a private business and if they would prefer not to honour the vets and their sacrifices so be it. As stupid as they are for doing it, it is important that they be allowed to make such decisions.

There was a similar situation at a shopping mall in the Montreal area this year. With the power of facebook and other online communications, the "community" at large was able to quickly organize an unofficial boycott of that mall.
Within 24 hours, they had a change of heart and the Veterans were allowed to sell poppies at the mall.

Aldi you will notice did finally "see the light." However, it remains an amazingly tone deaf performance, not just in general but particularly for a German owed company.

There are Aldi's supermarkets in Buffalo. I personally boycott them for a completely different reason, but this is just another reason not to shop there.

Rummy always had a sour face, yet he had no reason too. He never saw a day of war, nor did he ever have to kill anyone (I'm sure not an easy thing to do).
This guy on the other hand, served and years later is selling poppies via donations to help his servicemen out, I'd be pissed too if someone said no to me. ;)

The Aldi chain was founded by Karl and Theo Albrecht, both of whom fought for the Nazis in the Second World War. Theo died earlier this year, leaving Karl as the world’s tenth richest man, worth £14.7billion.

It is very stupid of them not not allow poppies
