Think of this before you buy a Tesla

Do not underestimate your wife's techy level. All you need is one of her much techier friends to suggest something or help her out. She could ask or the helpful type might volunteer. She might make a 'test' for fun before telling you about her new found knowledge. And that one time you let down your guard, bang!
I am sure AirTag‘s were already discussed on awful show called The View. If you’re married and “secretly” hobbying, you are already fucked.

My wife and I have AirTags on our house keys. When we go out together, we each get notifications that an "unknown AirTag is traveling with you." It also displays a map with the route we took together. We both have iPhones.

also if you have an insurance app where it tracks your driving your SO can look at where you were driving and where you stopped, that is if she has access to your phone

Maybe I'm missing something or maybe it's because I have an older Tesla...

Through the Tesla app, I can see where the vehicle is in real time, however the app does not show a history of where the vehicle has been. History is available through other apps or APIs, but I haven't seen it in the official Tesla app (again maybe I'm missing something).

My solution to avoid being tracked...
1) Only I have the app;
2) If the app is shared, then I reset the Tesla PW before going out; change it back on return. Any questions on the "outage"? "Dunno, it was weird, I noticed it wasn't working. Why were you checking?" The response to the last question will be very telling.

Totally concede that Tesla will have access to where I've been... however, any particular place I go to has multiple other businesses around it. Who's to say I wasn't visiting a different store in the plaza, the restaurant in the hotel or a friend in the condo? Risk I ackknowledge and sadly accept.

if your wife has tesla app installed on her phone and has her own login username and password to access the app linked to your car, then how can you reset her passwords without her finding out you trying to reset her password?

I only have the single/shared login to Tesla linked to my email address. Hence when I reset the PW, all changes flow via my account.

Don't actually use this in practice, as the app on her phone is not logged in. I'll worry if she asks to log in and my question would be "why"?

If I'm in the market for an EV, it won't be a Tesla.

I refuse to do anything that will give Elon Musk any business.

I have a friend with a collision repair shop that repairs many high end vehicles along with Teslas. He said when you see these cars from the inside out, you realize what junk they really are. For what they charge, the workmanship is awful.

The burner car literally is the gas burning car.
Taxis are better than uber, if your SO gets their hands on the uber app you can see all the destinations, burner car is the answer.

Tesla makes a lot of money selling your information to advertisers.

I still get a laugh out of the fact that they can track your vehicle everywhere (GM has the on star program where they know exactly where you are) yet once your vehicle is stolen it is impossible to locate it.
That's because cutting the power supply of a GM 12 volt battery is simple and not too dangerous. I wouldn't mess around with the connections of a battery that has enough juice to propel a car 500 km!

I checked and I must clarify: the historical map feature is on a third party app called Tessie. Thanks for pointing this out to me, it's a bit of relief because I'm the only one with that app installed.

Thanks also for the tip about temporarily changing the password. It ought to work well as long as Tesla accepts that we can re-use old passwords. (Google and some other sites deny that). Shhhh!

I can't stand the guy either. I even don't like people that admire him and see him on a pedestal.

I put off my purchase for a couple of years because of that. Life is short, I sorted things out.

The SP of you dreams, the one you've been longing for years is hosting in a 5* hotel.
Will you refuse go because you don't like the owner of the hotel chain?

Only works for iPhones or android users who installed the detection app for air tags.

Went for lunch with a buddy. My phone warned me of an unknown air tag travelling with me. I mentioned it to him.

Should have seen his wtf face. I showed him on my phone.

He’s an android user. Without knowledge of the app apparently to detect them (not sure how it works exactly as I only have an iPhone)

I asked him if he’s been anywhere he shouldn’t have been. All he could think of was strip club once this year.
Found out after his girlfriend claimed she put it in both their cars for security and was ‘sure she told him’.

Yeah. Sure she did.
Unless she also installed the app on his phone so he could track thats a load of bullshit.

I'd show her the door.
