The world highest mountain

Is it Mt Everest? Or is it Mt Sagarmatha? Or could it be Mt Qomolangma?

Okay, that's a trick question, but either way, Nepal announced they will be conducting their first independent survey to measure the exact height of the worlds tallest mountain. Measurements have ranged from 8844.42 to 8850 meters. Using the port of Calcutta at the Bay of Bengal as their measurement for sea level, Nepalese authorities estimate the process will take 2 years, and will need 291 Stanley 100' tape measures, to complete.

That would most likely be "Tallest" mountain, but due to it's location, it cannot be the highest mountain

With modern equipment such as oxygen masks, etc. It is a lot easier to climb Mount Everest to-day.

Jim Hayhurst Sr and Jr are two Canadians who have scaled Mount Everest.

What qualifies as a "climb"? Do they start at ground zero, climb all the way up to the peak without mechancal aid and then come back down to ground zero alive?

Depends what you mean by "mechanical aid". They can of course use ropes and chocks and oxygen and crampons and axes etc - standard tools of the trade for technical climbing. But no they can't take a skidoo half way up. No need to make it back down though!! If you summit, you win. If you die on the way down, you still summitted, so you still win (although you're dead, so.......).
