The Weinstein Trickle Down

I wanted to keep this separate from the big story to look more at how the accusations have evolved in nature. The latest concerning journalist Mark Halperin do not even involve a criminal investigation to my knowledge.5 women made accusations privately to CNN and a career is over. The accusations may very well be true, but they will not go through any legal channels to find truth either way.

I suspect over the next year some very big fish will be outed and rightly so, but I also believe that a few men will lose their careers over opportunity and revenge and little else. Thoughts?

I want to read how many straight male movie star had been molested or forced to do sexual favors for gay producers and directors when they try to become stars. I'm sure there are a tons of case, but not too many male star will tell those stories. Hollywood is the dirtiest and the most rotten city in US. Many beautiful and talented girls and men are there, and they do anything for the fame. Lots of them can't make carrier, but they suck hundreds of cocks for a one-minute role or become SP to survive the years there, and do tons of audition for nothing. After lots of unsuccessful attempt, many of them do carrier at the other side of the hill in Porn Valley. Many of them take their own life. The suicide rate in Hollywood is brutal. Don't be naive. Weinstein is not worster than 90% of the people there, who has power. Weinstein just the tip of the iceberg. I read enough Jackie Collins books or a report with Sharon Stone ( who do sexual favor for a producer's wife who was 70-80 years old...etc) and she knew what she's talking about. So if you think your talent is enough in Hollywood to make a big carrier, you live in dreamland. Sad but true.

I cannot substantiate it but there's an ongoing rumour that Jeremy Renner gave it up to Tom Cruise. Renner's career had stalled and Cruise had him over barrel over MI, Renner has done some very interesting films since then. If Top Gun: Maverick gets made, it means Hollywood culture isn't changing anytime soon.

It also remains to be seen how some upcoming films of those implicated do. Justice League doesn't look good to me and Ben Affleck is only rated 5th of actors that have played Batman. He's behind Adam West which is only proper, West was awesome! And TWC's latest big film The Current War may die at the box-office. Weinstein's clout with the Academy was losing it's force before the scandal. No Weinstein actor deserved an Oscar more than Jennifer Jason Leigh for The Hateful 8, she lost. In previous years she would have won easily.

And how will The Current War do at the box-office? On paper it should be a can't miss, with a great cast and a compelling story. But if Weinstein interfered with it as much as he did with The Imitation Game, it will hit theaters like a Lead Zeppelin.

Did Cruise literally "have him over a barrel"? Owww!!!!

I thought that the "Weinstein Trickle Down" in the title of this thread referred to the drippy-droppy down the side of the potted plant, btw.

From the article,

"During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me," Halperin said in a statement to CNN Wednesday night. "I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain. For that, I am deeply sorry and I apologize. Under the circumstances, I'm going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation."
he admits to inappropriate behaviour so there is no “losing a career based on rumours” situation here and if he is admitting to his behaviour and looking to get that help, why does there need to be a criminal investigation? What is the truth you are trying to find?

When did you hear that Sharon Stone had to eat Old pussy? This is the first I heard of it and I couldn't find anything with a search.

I don't remember but I read shortly after the Basic Instinct 2 . It was more than ten years ago in a foreign language newspaper. There was a report with her.

Is there an "inappropriate behaviour" section anywhere in the U.S criminal code? I'm legit asking. When is "pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me" considered a criminal act? If this is the full story he went way too far by stating he was getting help. If there was coercion, intimidation, sexual assault then absolutely.I''ll re-read the article again.

Every state has a separate Criminal Code in the US. It would depend if those statutes state that economic coercion negates the woman's consent.

The NYPD investigation into Lucia Stoller allegations, the one who says Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex on him at his Tribeca office in 2004. That would be considered a criminal sexual act in the first degree under New York law — to which there is no statute of limitations. It's a Class B felony, punishable by 5-25 years.

LAPD opened up the investigation into the model who said he bullied his way into her hotel room in Beverly Hills and then forcibly raped her in the bathroom.

Last year, Gov. Gerry Brown expanded the legal definition of rape, which now includes all forms of non consensual sexual assault — and impose new mandatory minimum sentences on some sex offenders.

He's going to have a tough time, let's just put it that way.

What I am saying is, if he has admitted wrong doing, why do you need it to be criminal for it to be wrong.

I can’t see him publically admitting in detail what he did. But clearly he acknowledges what he did as wrong.

There is stealing a candy bar, robbing a bank or scamming people out of money. All is theft, all wrong. All at different degrees but wrong nonetheless so if I admit to being a thief, why do you need the dirty details and a criminal conviction to believe my confession???

I understand if a woman made a claim and he lost his job but he left his job and admitted to wrong doing. So where is the issue you have with his “unfair” treatment of being innocent until proven guilty.

It is sort of an empty apology though isn't it.
We are dealing with a person, and in a lot of similar cases, where the individual is adept at glibly offering up these empty apologies in an effort to get out in front of serious behaviour and hoping to ameliorate the situation to avoid the discomfort of confronting their behaviour. The bolded statement from your quote is an example of this. He is trying to dissuade the victims from making criminal charge against him and also in the process deny his egregious behaviour by offering up this pathetic apology.
Nest time someone apologizes to you for something ask them "Why?" and see the look of discomfort come into their face. If the get defensive and angry then you know that it is insincere. You need to know that they acknowledge the behaviour that they are apologizing for.

And of course everything one reads is true.
It's the media. You never know what's true and what is not, but I know one thing for sure. Hollywood is the most rotten and deviant city in USA. Sadly those sick sexual predators, those pedophile pigs, those alcoholic, drug addicted animals has power to suggest what is good and what is not good for us. Pathetic criminals!
