Watched the "Wealthy Barber" interviewed on BNN. I find my conservative self agreeing with almost everything he says. Basically, "go slow, go far".

Couldn't agree more. Read both his books, and have done well with his sound advice.

'The Wealthy Barber' is a book some mutual fund salesmen are most
fond to recommend to their clients. The book itself is not a bad one for layman
to investing. Somehow it serves the purpose of those who want to sell their
investment products as well.

That may be true to a point, but it also suggests that you forget that route and go the real estate route, so it's definitely not a sales book.
That said, it's an excellent starting point for those who are in the dark about money. It would be a great book to make all high schoolers read.
