I use to French Press until I discovered the pour over - man I love it.
What is the pour over ?

I like the cartridges both the Keurig and the Nespresso, but they're expensive. I use sometimes the plastic keurig cartridge.

The most expensive way to get your brew, even more expensive than going to a Tim Horton's.
Not necessarily. I bought ten cups of coffee one time trying to roll up the rim & win - and I don't even drink coffee:p...

Even cheaper if you buy green beans and roast them yourself... of course, quality may suffer! 🙄

Why stop there. Grow your own coffee.

I believe you can buy reusable pods to fill with your own coffee
I use an expresso maker and make expresso with regular coffee then add hot water to it to make Americano Coffee. Coffee is much better when you roast your beans a little in a cast iron pan, then fresh grind it just before you make coffee.

I find deals all the time. Bought Boyd French Vanilla for $2.00. For a box of 80 @ $.025 per cup. Bought 10 boxes and gave some away to friends. Just have to look for the deals
The pods cost from .73 to .31 each at Loblaw, at 2.5 cents each on the bargain pods I suspect these pods must be past the best before dates.

They also go directly to a landfill.
The pod companies give you recycling envelopes to send your used pods in for recycling. I suspect they know very few people will collect the used pods. It is just a PR move.

I put steamed milk as I like latte's so it's 12 cents ;)
Carnation condensed milk is better. I use a combo of 1/3 condensed milk to 2/3 regular milk.
BTW - No name condensed milk at Loblaw and Carnation brand milk is the same milk made by the same manufacturer. At this time the Canadian dairy industry has oceans of milk that they do not know what to do with.

You would think so but the best before date on the box is March 31/2022. Purchased it in October 2021. I am not a huge coffee drinker so quality is not high on my priority but the coffee tastes pretty good and others really like it. And each pod is individually wrapped unlike when you buy boxes at most places. 87A0EC31-1014-4140-AE91-FF5E8DEBC00F.jpeg

Found an almost new in box Nespresso Virtuo machine in April when dumpster fishing.

Seemed to be some Chinese students were moving back home and dumping all their 120V gear.

I then dumpster dived a bunch of compatible used pods. We peel the lids off of them and then dump the used grinds to the green bin and then washed the aluminum case. Have a stock of about 30 of them and reload every month or so.

Sourced new sticky edge foil lids off Amazon 100 for $15 or so. We reload with drip coffee and milk foaming powder I sourced from the supplies for the office coffee machine.

We still make a drip pot every morning. The Virtuo runs when we want the odd afternoon or evening cup.

Just prior to Christmas break I found an abandon box of K cup pods from some packer in Isreal. These get opened with a knife, and the contents of four pods is enough for a drip basket pots worth of java. Tasty flavors and extra sweet as it is next to free. Just $.02 for the filter basket paper per pot.

I take the time for a French press on weekends, but I appreciate the convenience of a Keurig brew for my commute and at work during the week.

I bought a few packs of re-usable pods a couple years ago. They were about $10/5 on Amazon if you don’t buy Keurig-brand.

I grind my preferred beans and pack them in no time on weekends. They’re a little messy unless you’re careful after filling, but if I don’t have time for a press, with the right beans they beat the hell out of what they serve at Timmies, or the now discontinued communal drip pot at work.

I’ve found a few pre-filled pods that aren’t too bad, but agree that most seem to be geared towards the tasteless.

I have people in my life that still think a K-Cup is the devil because of the waste they produce, and for the most part, I agree with them. But, I tend to ignore people that say that AND buy take-out coffee with single-use tops.
have you tried President's Choice 100 % compostable pods?

I agree. Sometimes, you have to experiment with the quantity of coffee and the fineness of the grind with reusable pods. And then there are pods that work better than others. It’s not an easy choice, requiring fine tuning. It is worth it, however, not to be limited in what is available in the pods preloaded.

Carnation milk kills coffee. Its horrible. Buy a milk steamer.
That is your mistake, I said 1/3 Carnation evaporated milk and 2/3 regular milk.

I buy the President's Choice West Coast Dark roast. If you but the big box you you 72 pods for $32 or less than 50 cents each. Perfect for when you like only 1 cup at a time. Compostable as shakenbake says and I like them better than most of Starbuck flavours
