I had an interesting thought with all the recent Covid-19 events, lockdowns and rising case counts. The second lockdown, will it be harder than the first time around? There are so many different variables to explore.....

It will be harder on the medical community. Critical breakdowns in supply chains. Many at the breaking point financially. Anti mask and anti vax loonies have had more time to organize. It certainly won't be any easier....

Why is a lockdown thread here instead of covid forum?

2nd wave is repeat of 1st
Lots of old people get sick and die
Young people get pissed at trampling of civil rights

Really, there is a lot of shit going on. The shit has hit the fan. Economically many have lost their livelihoods. Despite the fact that this highly contagious pandemic causing virus is not killing the vast majority of people, it does hospitalize and or permanently damage a significant amount of the population with hospital beds now at a premium and “non-essential “ surgeries being dangerously delayed. The virus and vaccines have become highly politicized pitting the economy against healthcare. Politicians continue to suck and blow at the same time in attempts to keep everybody happy.

Then there is those stuck on CERB like assistance or social assistance treadmill with no hope or future or a belief that they have any skin in the game. The sex trade is reeling too with less workers and customers. The Escort Agencies are really hurting but have managed to remain open for now even as cases in Ontario push towards 2000 per day.

Interesting to note that escort agencies have not closed this time around, like they did for the first lockdown. I'm curious as to why not.
why should they? they have bills to pay and need food on the table

That is true, all the comments. I noticed as of late the Amazon delivery thief's are more sophisticated. 2 of my packages got stolen under 30 min in my condo. like just last year I had package at my door for over 4 days when i was on vacation.

Walking around the mall is something I usually avoid holiday seasons anyways, even if I had not completed my shopping

Most likely will be visiting family & friends during the so-called lockdown
Heck we already have plans to head out to Montreal

Have fun sitting home alone! Remember the crisis line before you do anything rash!

HAHAHAHA, Montreal?? It is more locked up than Ontario. Have fun in one of the coldest city with nowhere to go!

Like others have said, what lockdown are you referring to? The "province-wide small business closure" is not a lockdown at all. Other than gutting small businesses it's accomplishing little else.

Im fine. Lock it down. I'm stocked up, have internet, employment is fine.
Of course you are. Callous attitude because all is good for you only. We'll take your perspective more seriously when your employment is not fine and your stock is running low.

Then why did they close down the first time around? What's different this time around? A lockdown is a lockdown, isn't it?
Because like most ordinary citizens, they've come to recognize that the "lockdowns" are an ineffective strategy and that they lost many months worth of cash flow for nothing while costco and amazon made a killing.
