In part, it's related to the tech industry. SF has a MASSIVE % of the US GDP and so there are residents who are grossing 7 and 8 figure annual earnings. So that bumps up the cost of every commodity. At the same time, techies work from home now. So no one goes into the office to work any more. So the areas around the office towers die. And vagrancy, public drug use and petty street crime increases.

Seattle and Portland do have very similar problems.

I believe that 'progressive' liberal policy has contributed greatly to this demise. Yes the pandemic played a role too. But tourism would have made up a significant chunk of their business, where are the tourists?

We did the "libtards decriminalized theft" bullshit and exposed it as crap. We spent several threads on this.

Liberals didn't hike the house prices.

Libtards didn't cause tech workers to work from home.

So what we're left with is that SFPD should ruthlessly enforce vagrancy laws. Which creates an increased police budget and judicial costs. But the homeless cannot be "banished" from SF. That's against the Constitution that you righties jerk off about 24/7. So the homeless get warehoused in SF city jail on vagrancy charges and then come out of jail and live in the park again until they're arrested on fresh vagrancy charges. And the process repeats.
