Drawing artifical boundaries rarely works, least of all in the ME. Bottom line is that the Arab populations will never agree or be satisfied with some part of one area distant or detached from another. They want to be joined. This is the issue is Gaza. They can't get out because there is no exit point. Some have described as the biggest prison in the world.

Are not almost all the boundaries in the ME artificial (although the argument that they're not working is robust).

A wall is a pretty hard thing to argue with, perhaps it won't be the last one.

I don't see the Arabs having any power or leverage in this at all, I think they're fucked.

Then it comes down to how long Israel can keep them walled off, or in, depending on your point of view. As I said time is not on their side.

I think once they're on the other side of the wall (literally for figuratively) Israel can all but forget about them. I could criticize Israel for many things but lax security isn't one of them.

Yes, I will admit that their presence in the territories is an obstacle to peace, but it should also be noted that they wish to live in peace with their neighbours and do not carry out clandestine attacks against the Palestinians.

You only have to look at the case of the Israeli soldier who was charged with blowing the head off of Palestinian child. Guess what Israel did? They let him travel and he didn't come back.
