He may not always speak well but he was explaining why Canada didn't (wouldn't) go into Iraq... One of the smartest things a P.M. of Canada has done in a long time.

Small clip of someone saying something with no context then presented it as proof. Perhaps you think everyone at terb is a moron and accept it as proof. One could find this sort of thing on any politician with a little work

Show me someone who is smart and has talked like this without being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

We know Chretien knows how to prove something via Mathematical Induction. A proof is a proof, you know, a proof is a proof, and when when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven. Great! We know Harper can't prove shit. Thanks for that terrific 7 second clip.

Liberals are going back to win the minority government, boys!

Thanx for that reminder. :) I'm so glad we're rid of that cripple faced moron. He was completely unitelligable in both official languages.

He had only one skill which he learned from the master himself, Tudeau. Consolidating political power. He would've made a great 3rd world dictator.

It will be a minority government, but it's too soon to say which party will win.

Making fun of someone's disability isn't particularly nice, IF that is what you were doing. Are you old enough to remember this news event?

http://www.planetpapers.com/Assets/908.php

"It was in the 1993 federal election that Kim Campbell found she was behind in the polls and made a decision that destroyed her party. She chose to have an American Company make a commercial that made fun of Liberal party leader Jean Chrétien's physical disability, Bell's palsy. This disease paralyzes on side of the face, where the muscles on the right side of his mouth were paralized The Canadian people responded to this commercial by giving him sympathy and Kim Campbell and the Tories suffered because of it."

If you are actually talking about Chretien's 'proof is a proof' riff, I've gotta say I think Don Rumsfield sort of plagiarized this speech of Chretien's when he was talking about 'unknowables'.

Chretien deserves the everlasting admiration because he kept Canada out
of the war in Iraq, and don't forget it was in spite of the cries of outrage
from the conservatives.

Now wait a minute boys, "I don't know, a proof is a proof. What kind of a proof, it's a proof. A proof is a proof and when you have a good proof it's because it's proven."

Too fucking funny!

The cries of outrage occurred because of the way he made the decision not the decision itself.

Chretien inherited that ranking from Mulroney. Given that Canada lost that ranking under Chretien, I’m not sure what you're trying to say. Are you blaming Chretien for Canada losing first spot?

As much as I like to bash Chretien for being in charge of the most corrupt and wasteful federal government in recent memory this thread isn't exactly the most timely is it? I mean the guy hasn't been Prime Minister for what 5 years ?

It sort of reminds me of the looney left when they blame everything on Harris. C'mon guys aren't we bigger than that ?

You do realize that Iraq was all Harris' fault don't you ;)

I have heard a great many people talk like that from teachers, University Profs, scientists, executives. If you take little clips of people here and there you can find a great many things like this and more. There are many web sites dedicated to the stupid things Bush Jr. says. The republicans have countered by finding some dumb things Clinton says. Just watch any talk show for a while and you will find dumb things. Just watch the house of Commons on TV. Some of the conservatives answers are far worse. Some of the questions they are asked are also rather stupid. Stupid talk has been going on since the first words were spoken.

In that clip you have to know he just wanted to say something like "You stupid f***ing b**tard, why do you keeping asking the same things..."

He was/is a public figure so he was trying struggling not to say something while knowing all the time what he really wanted to say.

Some have a gift for words. Jean's idol Trudeau (love him or hate him) had a way with words. Trudeau could call you an idiot to your face and could be on to another subject before your realized what he said. Jean isn't a wordsmith by any stretch of the imagination but it doesn't mean much in terms of his intelligence.
