ya, i just do not get how come the ladies can charge so much more for less in Ottawa when you can ( I do) just make the 1.5hr drive to Montreal. Its a great city, great cafe's , better restaurants and some fun. Then drive back feeling great.
Do you stay in a hotel? Once you add up all the extra costs and 3 to 4 hrs of driving it's a pain. I wish the SPs would rotate to Ottawa more.

complaining about Ottawa..... I wonder if you have ever lived out west? say in Regina or Saskatoon or interior BC or East like New Brunswick or Newfoundland... If you have then likely you will appreciate Ottawa lol.
And a little closer to home...Kingston & Belleville have it worse than Ottawa.

I'm not singling you out, cause this is the type of thinking that I think is predominant in Ottawa... but this is exactly the type of thinking that keeps Ottawa a provincial backwater town...

Chap like me, from Toronto comment about the absence of REAL transit (Transitways dont count!), lack of attractive women, poor night life, a downtown that closes after 6PM...

... and I'm met with "Have you been to Saskatoon?"

Ask a similar question in Montreal or Toronto, and your met with "Have you been to Tokyo or London?" That for me spells out the real difference between Ottawa, and some of hte other cities in Canada. Maybe comparing Ottawa to Toronto is an unfair comparison... but check out Halifax or Edmonton and you'll find the bar in Ottawa is set very low.

Ottawa likes to compare themselves to little towns like Kingston & Belleville, but theirs a reason people move to big cities. To avoid little provincial towns like Belleville (with all due respect to Loyalist country).

Ottawa being the Capital City (and all the media coverage Ottawa gets cause its the Capital) makes one think that Ottawa is a major city. Its NOT. Its misleading. Ottawa is in fact more like a Kingston or Regina than a Toronto or Montreal, despite what the media may lead you to believe. Gotta see it to believe it... and I dont mean a weekend trip. Try spending 7 days a week in OTtawa.

Where I work, many folks are from out of town. I am convinced businesses and the Government have a difficult time keeping talent, because I know enough people that gave up on Ottawa. Some even liked the job and the job security, yet couldnt imagine having to spend the next 35-40 years here so quit and found less stable jobs else where.

The problem goes beyond the SP scene,

Very well said CH..... I'm from a larger Canadian city, traveled throughout most of the world and find Ottawa one of the best all-around cities. I visit Montreal regularly and yes, it's great for hobbying but not worth the other hassles of the bigger city! Ottawa has it all. My 2 cents :)
