The New Sick Kids

I new Hospital for Sick Children is set to be built. It will be expensive but very necessary. Sick Kids is at the vanguard of children's medicine with young patients coming from across the globe.

And the great AmeriCanadian actor Colm Feore achieves The Great Shat level of coolness!

I had no idea they were looking to build a new one.Would the old one close down when the new one is built?

I’ve had no less than 4 friends treated there as children who grew up to be wonderful people who contribute a lot to society. Really makes you wonder what would have happened if sick kids hospital wasn’t around.

They do amazing work.

I think it's great that they're building a new one. I'm not sure why it needs to be downtown though. I would think selling off their primo real estate and building new in the 'burbs (but still on a subway line) would be a great way to save some cash without compromising on care.

I thought the same thing, but surmised that they need to be Downtown in order to attract the medical rockstars, the donations, etc.

(PS - I'm on the automatic monthly donation. All of us perverts should be. It kills me to see sick kids and suffering families.)

It's a part of the University Health Network. Allows easy access for all specialists to get together. Ease of patient transfer as well if needed.

It can always get better - better to the point where we no longer need such as facility.
