The 883 just isn't as good as all that, ride an 883, then ride any other full sized HD bike, and you will see the difference right away.

If the guy is a first-time bike owner, it's more than enough motorcycle. Any more than that and we'll be reading about inaluki being roadkill somewhere.
To the OP: do your thing man. Enjoy the ride and recognize that you'll probably want a little more bike after your first couple of seasons.
First off, I apologize for coming across the wrong way, I did not intend to sound insulting. The Sportster is a nice bike, but what I call an entry level Harley, and I suspect that one would grow tired of rather quickly, and want to move up to a larger size. I called it a 'ladies bike' because it is an ideal size for many women, who do not have the strength or size to hold a larger Harley on a windy day. That being said, I have myself owed my fair share of 750cc bikes, and have found the power (at least on sport bikes) sufficient, if not excessive in many circumstances.Sheik said:Some of the bike tough bikers I know speak fondly of the sportster. Some still ride em. Anyone that calls it a ladies bike needs a reality check. It's a cheap bike and its a harley and to some people all that matters is that you're riding SOMETHING.
Sheik, I do agree with you on one point. The most important part is that you are riding something.
If you like it, I say go for it, it is a very nice looking bike. And you know what they say about opinions... They are alike assholes, everybody has one.
