The Melody...

There are certain songs that I can listen to again and again, the melodies just take me away to a different place and my mind and body can relax.

Tonight is one of those songs. It's probably no coincidence that it has that effect, to soothe the mind, to calm and take away the stresses of the day. Elton John is no amateur when it comes to his craft and I am sure given the lyrics that was an intentional effect.

We all need an escape, something to take away the stresses of our day, our week and whatever life seems to be throwing at us. Sometimes a short break helps us to come back and finish up a task and sometimes a break is needed to keep our sanity and our strength. Perhaps you want an escape to help you recapture a feeling you once had, those carefree moments when you could stop and soak in a tub cupping a woman's beautiful breast as she reclined on your chest, when you could lie next to her in bed sipping champagne and not have to worry about what time the kids would be home and if they are going to wander in the room at any moment. Maybe you just want to forget about the pressure of the outside world, rekindle a passion, feel desired and feel a connection with someone that makes you laugh.

I am in Toronto for the next few weeks and would enjoy spending time with a person that prefers a quality connection over a string of meaningless encounters.

I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned...

This morning I was in the kitchen just pouring some water into the coffee pot when this song came on. With my toast and fruit already on the plate and nothing else to do but wait for my coffee to brew I found myself singing along and doing my best kitchen karaoke, dance breaks included. I made enough of a ruckus that the four legged ones came to watch me as I waved my arms spinning about singing about that perfectly aligned kiss. They rather intelligently decided not to join in the spectacle and watched from a distance.

I gave it my all and for those two little animals and one coffee pot and for those four and a half minutes I am sure they were all wondering what form of craziness had overtaken the human. It was fun, it was freeing, it was play. Oh and it was great to have an audience that could truly appreciate my vocal talents, first time in my life that has happened.
As the song wound down I slowly pressed the plunger on the french press, poured a cup into my mug and took a sip. It tasted perfect, made with a little extra joy today.

I hope that you find something in your day that makes you smile, sing a tune and just maybe when no one is looking you'll dance a little too.
