The Meaning of Your Handle

S

specter

So Mr. Bond . . . .

Specter is of course the name of the crime syndicate that James Bond fought against all those years. I used to love the way Connery would say it with that Scottish accent. And being another way of referrring to a ghost or apparition it seems kinda of appropriate for a mysterious type of handle.

From the character in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, one of my 5 favourite books. I added the "henry" in the middle from one of the other characters in the novel, Hank Reardon.

Seemed appropriate to the shadow world that we hobbyists operate in.....originally came from another nickname I used in a previous visit to this planet...shades of blue.
Cheers

(Cardinal Fang should get this...)

The Lady of the Lake,...
[angels sing]
...her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I was to carry the name Goober McFly.
[singing stops]
That is why I am your king!

Seriously, I don't know where it came from. Goober is whatever, and McFly probably comes from the few brain cells retaining information about the Back to the Future movies. Probably.

Goober McFly

If memory serves, Goober was a character in the old Andy Griffith show. McFly was a character in Back To The Future. I know, nothing to do with you, but that's what came to mind the first time I saw your handle.

Mine, all the good ones were taken, so I just took the title of my favourite record album.

Goober:

Strange women, lying in ponds, distributing swords is no method for determining a handle. lol

I'm a boob-man....
I was watching a Bo Derek movie with some friends. I can't remember if it was 10, Tarzan or Bellero. Anyways, there's a part where she runs topless on the beach. I made the observent comment, "If those boobs were a percussion instrument, they'd be saying 'bedumdedum'."

My buddies picked up on it and started calling me Bedumdedum or Bed for short.

GOOBER: Be quiet!
WHY NOT?: Well, but you can't expect to wield supreme handle power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!
GOOBER: Shut up!
WHY NOT: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was "Why Not?" just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
GOOBER: Shut up, will you? Shut up! *pulls out his beating stick*
WHY NOT: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system.
GOOBER: Shut up!
WHY NOT: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!
GOOBER: Bloody peasant!
WHY NOT: Oh, what a give-away. Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about. Did you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn't you?

1. Sounds silly and somewhat dangerous.
2. Is a character invented by some of the funniest men ever.
3. It was my nickname and alter ego in school.
4. I've always wanted to be part of the Spanish Inquisition.
5. Someone already spoiled the handle Alien!

When I first chose the name some folks assumed I was Asian...I'm not.
