Ya, I know this belongs in the Movie Review section but I'm pretty pissed off I wasted my time seeing this one.

If I can stop just one person from wasting any part of their life watching this movie, then I've done a good public service. Possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Several people walked out half way through.

The only saving grace was that we went to the early show and had lots of time left to salvage the evening.

Yea, me and a friend walked out of this movie after waiting a half hour for something funny to happen or be said...

Funny thing is, I've heard from excellent reviews of this film (from some of my most trusted critics/reviewers). I believe this film also premiered at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, where it received some positive buzz.

But then again, we all have our own opinions on film.

To be fair, I can see some critics giving it a decent review. It's a documentary/comedy, something that you don't see very often. But it fails to live up to either standard.

I think if you're a film student, a critic or somehow involved in the industry, it might be of some interest professionally. There's just no entertainment value at all for an average viewer. And I don't mean the uneducated masses. It's not that the humour goes over their heads, it's just not funny.

For me, the Informers is in the "why did I stick around to the end?" category of movies.

The movie actually means something, but the viewing experience is terrible. Even if you do get the meaning, the characters invoke no sympathy. They are so shallow, that by the end of the movie, you hate them. You walk out of the movie with sense that: "I'm glad AIDS hit the movie industry. I just wish it was a little more effective so it could stop shallow self-centered movies like this one." I'm usually pretty sensitive to AIDS too, so this is a complete reversal of my normal position.

The movie is the worst anti-AIDS message ever.

 Pretty sure we're talking about different movies. The Informant, with Matt Damon. It's about the ADM price fixing investigation in the early-mid 90s. Maybe I fell asleep and missed something.

Pandorum was pretty good. Almost as good as Event Horizon. I'd say see that instead. Planning on posting review in movie section.

I haven't seen it nor intend to but at first glance, it reminds me of the movie "burn after reading" in its style. That movie sucked too IMO.

Perhaps I have different tastes when it comes to film from most of the TERBies here, but I have to completely disagree with you. Burn After Reading was an absolutely hilarious, brilliant film, with witty dialogue, great performances, and a loopy sense of humour.

Granted, I have always been a fan of the Coen brothers; some of my most memorable films include Blood Simple, Raising Arizona (I laughed so hard in that film I pulled a muscle and was in pain for a week!), and Intolerable Cruelty.

I am also a fan of Steven Soderbergh (I enjoyed Out of Sight and Oceans Eleven), so I suspect I will very much like The Informant too.

gen, if you're a film lover, I would advise you not to scratch this film on your TDL yet.

Sorry, I was talking about "The Informers". Maybe I will just blacklist all the movies that start with "Inform".

tboy and Samurai Joey, yes The Informant is very much in the same style as Burn After Reading, which I wouldn't list as one of my favourites but I thought was very funny.

I'm not sure now if we're talking about the Informant or the Informers. If it's about the Informant with Matt Damon, I thought it was a cute movie with excellent acting, especially by Damon.

It's not the greatest movie in the world but it's entertaining and worth it if there's nothing else to see or you're looking for something to rent down the line.
