The Illuminati: a Canadian Connection

I've always been a believer in the Illuminati, or the Shadow Government, for the uninitiated (see www.cloakanddagger.com )

Too many coincidences for a president who fixed the election to begin with.

That being said, even we as Canadians have a connection to these conspiracies. It was awfully convenient how, as his popularity dropped, one Johnny Cruton started to take pot shots at our new Prime Minister, Martin. Made Martin look awfully good to those who were tired of Chretien's rhetoric.

Just curious, are there any kindred spirits on this site?

I think you have confused the Masonic Temple with the Water Buffalo Lodge

the paradox of the conspiracy, by its definition...

"the more they deny it exists, the more likely you are to believe it does".

conspiracy theory, an attempt to "explain the inexplicable". [kinda like religion sometimes]

The Mason's have seen a decline in recent years... they have actually startecd to advertise for members. To learnd more about the MASON'S AND THE MASONIC LODGE I would suggest that you pick up The Hiram Key by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas. There are a number of books and or websites dedicated to the Mason's and or The Knights of Colombus.
Although many people laugh at the Shriners, they are actually situated higher in the chain than the Mason's. They disguise their good deeds, ie Childrens hospitals for what they are really up too.
Every president in the united States is a level 33 Mason, the highest order in the Lodge. For more information on the Illuminati you can PM me for more readings materials of this nature.

In this case

The shadow government is named Karl Rove and he'll be re-electing Bush by dropping OBL into the waiting hands of the 101 Airborne next September - just wait and see.

Need to be brought in by a current Mason. Ya have to be vouched for.

They are many ways of communicating beyond the handshake (of which there are many, one for each of the 1st. 3 degrees). There are a plethora of key words that would enlighten one that was pointed 'due east' should they happen to drop in the middle of a conversation.

Gomer, Oz and Daggobert (sp?): the two pillars (Boaz and Jachin) conjoined by the canopy of heaven...

The parable of Hiram Abif... The mystery of the San Grall and its connection to the blood line of Christ...

An interesting subject, indeed. ;)

And the less the evidence, the more effective must be the conspiracy. Brilliant! Tautologies prove anything and everything.
You're bang on about the religion thing cyb. Times past we needed to invent a god or gods to account for the mysteries and misfortunes we faced, and divine knowledge to license the believers. With the superior rationality of the XXIst C, gods are passé, but the need is still there for some, so "shadow" governments, secret cabals, sinister plotters are invented, and the "enlightened" can revel in their superior insight.
Like god in your life, if you leave me and mine out of it, believe what you want/need to. If it's amusing, or helps my day-to-day decision-making, I might believe as well.
But if it's a "shadow government"…? Tell me, has anyone ever touched Dalton McGinty? Would it matter if you had? If Dubya was a computer construct would I ever know, or have my life improved by caring? Isn't the phrase: "shadow government" sorta tautologous for most of us? The 'real' one sure hides itself away from me. But if not for you, fine. Put another log on the campfire, we'll gather closer and keep the sabretooths away with scary stories.
If I was rude, I didn't mean to be and I apologize.
PS: Occam's Razor: Reject all but the simplest explanation for the obseved facts. It was way simpler to admit the world was round than to maintain the flat earth construct, and way harder to fake space travel than to just get on with going to the moon. Not sure if this is relevant.

The masons are a secret society and will reain as such.
The Knights of St. John are an organization that bars membershipo to anyone who was ever a mason.

I always thought it was the Templars not the Masonic group we were to be afraid of.

There have only been 16 Presidents linked to Masonry. Including George Washington, and many of the members that wrote the American Constitution.

Conspiracy theories will always be around, as long as people need to try and explain what they don't understand about the world.

By the way. Ever wonder why there's a pyramid on the back of US currency? Goes back further than you might think.

AKA..."Where there's smoke, there's fire."

From Roswell to Elvis to JFK to Figure Skating, there has to be at least some conspiracies that actually have fact to them.

Just a bunch of harmless men gathering predominantly for the sake of social intercourse twice each month. In return, they partake in ritual while formally attired and are asked to memerize certain speeches, phrases and initiations.

Pretty tame stuff. Nothing close to what one would consider as a group of world-altering movers and shakers, although there have been a few notables who have graced a lodge or two.

But if ya happen to find yourself hood-winked (blind-folded) within any Blue Lodge, watch out for the sheep...

conspiracy theories

Best line I ever saw on the subject came from Eric Idle of Monty Python on the show "Conspiracy Zone":

Conspiracy theorists think that thousands of people can maintain all these secrets over a number of years, but the President of the United States can't get a blowjob without the entire world finding out about it????

Can't remember his exact wording, but this was the gist of it...pretty much sums it up for me.
