The Olympic committee has decided to discontinue the 50 Km Walk, Canada's Evan Dunfee will be the last Bronze Medallist. The reason, it's torture, most contestants are semi-delirious by the time they reach the finish line. Not a chance in hell you can walk a Marathon.
Due to the pandemic I've been unable to get rehab for my heart attack. The physiology department at Etobicoke General said they were going to send me documentation - I told them to forget it, I can do it myself. I started speed walking the McMichael Trail when I had my followup appointment with the cardiologist. He told me I was making progress but I was skeptical.
The McMichael Trail is fairly simple - except for the Hill of Death which connects the Humber Trail to the Art Gallery. So far I haven't sped walked up it in one shot but I'm getting closer. I've reached the level where I stop only once to catch my breath. I could run up the hill but that would defeat the purpose of what I'm attempting to accomplish. I stop at the fork of The McMichael to catch my breath. I could take the Left Trail which is more gentle, I always take the Right which is straight uphill. I'm out of breath by the time I reach the Gallery.
Proud to have achieved progression hubris took hold of me - I decided to take Stegman's Mill Rd back to my car. That was a mistake, speed walking on pavement is vastly different than doing it on gravel. I could not stop, my calves were on fire, or risk falling on my face. Yes I am going to do it again.
I don't have Mr. Dunfee's more, I look like a drunken ostrich, probably never will but I dont give a fuck.
