Schlong and Nate made me laugh with their exchange but I also like dens. Agree that a modest condo might fit in with the historical site of a cheap department store but perhaps not in this modern, urban market as ducttape has said.

I used to llive in the area in the early 80's. Have lots of good memories about the store. Thanksgiving's FREE turkey is the highlight!
Don't think it would be a good idea to build another condo in that spot. How's about you? Any thoughts about the store during your younger years?
what do you expect? I mean the Mirvishe's are even willing to demolish a fairly new and recently built Princess of Wales theater to build condominiums.. Aside from historical content of that building and land, building a multi-use highrise would be more worth while for them.. They could still leave the ground level commercial and build offices, services, ameneties, and living quarters above. In a practical point of view, that precious land is being underused.

Life is a lot different in a condo. Hosting a bunch of friends is not the same as being in a 5,000 sf house. It is a change of living altogether. It works for some, not for many.
With a downtown condo one can host another couple, maybe two, but no / not much more. The idea of a downtown condo is to live life outside the dwelling. So, meet those friends for dinner somewhere nearby, and buy the wine, rather than host them at home. That's the only way its workable, unless you have a 5000 sq ft condo (and in that case, you should host them on the yacht instead).
