These were used for a static display at the RAE 2015 russian army arms expo in September 2015.
In July 2018, the deputy prime minister of defense Yury Borisov, said there is currently no need to mass-produce the Armata when its older predecessors, namely the latest variants of the T-72, remain "effective against American, German and French counterparts", saying, "Why flood our military with Armatas, the T-72s are in great demand on the market.
The order was reduced from 2300 to 32 to be delivered at the end of 2021, this was delayed due to financial abuses and electronic supply shortages.
In November 2021, state trials were supposed to be in progress and expected to be completed in 2022, but another "pilot batch" of twenty tanks was yet to be delivered to the armed forces.
Production of the pilot batch of twenty tanks was expected to start in 2023, if ever.
So the T-72 , first built in 1968, is the most advanced tank they have ready for battle.
2,000 are said to be available for use.
Actually less then that with the losses in Ukraine, around 355 T-72 confirmed destroyed.
It does have some systems upgrades, but none new since 2000, when they added night vision.
As for planes, the most advanced Russian fighter jet, the SU-57, there are only 3 in service, with 78 still on order.
First delivered in Jan 2020 with projected deliveries of 15 per year, shows they are behind on production before the sanctions.
