Its not flawed.
For years politicians listened to the NRA over the wishes of voters, now they listen to AIPAC over voters. AIPAC funds dems and republicans and is largely the money from a half dozen very right wing, dual citizen billionaires. Regardless of which party you vote for you now almost always get an AIPAC serving choice. Billionaires will have pet issues they want, like tax breaks for the rich or banning homeless people from public spaces. They get those passed while you get the dems fighting over getting a small part of student loans written off, which gets the news for voters.

Politicians will do a handful of bills that placate voters while doing the bigger changes on behalf of those who have bought them.
You really think that isn't happening in the states and starting to happen here?
You are really all over the place.

1) The NRA is Advocacy group largely made up of fly over country rednecks who are not billionaires. In general Americans love their guns and politicians who mess with guns face the wrath of voters. This is an issue Democrats tread carefully on not because of billionaires but because of voter backlash. Ask Al Gore.
2) I really don't know much about AIPAC, nor do I care too. They could be a bunch of "very right wing dual citizen billionaires" but support of Israel is like everything in the middle east... a messy situation that will never be resolved.
3) Tax Breaks... On post 263 I gave IRS stats on income & taxes asking what a reasonable ratio would be. Still waiting on a reply.
4) I don't know if billionaires care enough to stop homeless people sleeping in public. Usually this type of issue comes from locals who don't like it in their neighborhood. I don't see many homeless people sleeping around billionaire homes.

What I don't get is you seem to have a hatred of rich people. The rich are rich. Good for them. Why be angry at them for being rich? I don't get it. Some rich people are nice and some are not nice. There are a lot of good rich people who donate time & money to help others. Check out the giving pledge. Some of them, rich people, are doing good things to help people.

Getting back to my point that the rich are on both sides of the political fence and donate to both right and left parties.

1) The NRA were lobbyists for the gun industry
2) You should learn about AIPAC, I'm surprised you don't know them
3) Why not go back to the tax levels before Reagan and the 'trickle down' theory, back when the government could fund services.
4) The SCOTUS is pushing through legislation on behalf of the GOP now, for a party that acts in the interests of the rich who just want to be richer. You're playing a game of monopoly and allowing the banker to change the rules on the fly on their own behalf.

Higher progressive taxation funds better social services that just makes life better for the people of a country.
In North America minimum wage doesn't pay enough for housing and more and more social services are being privatized at the public's expense.

Even the playing field, that's all I ask, stop having the game tilted towards those with more money.

Splitting hairs:

2024 Denmark is the second happiest. All the power to them for being happy and I think if that works for them great.
The NRA is more than the gun industry. I know where ever I have lived in the States... I was/am one of the few homes without a gun.

The narrative the GOP acts on the interest of the rich and implying the DNC doesn't is not accurate. Both parties act in the interests of "their" rich people. DNC is no better than the GOP in this area.

If the citizens of a country want the social services of Denmark the citizens need to understand the cost and if it is what the majority want then by all means go for it. To realistic achieve what Denmark has in the US it will be more than additional taxes for the rich but will result in higher taxes for pretty much all citizens. I do not see the majority of Americans agreeing to the tax increases and $25.00 and hour minimum wage for a Demark style society. That is their choice as a country. If Biden or "insert democrat/republican president name" tried to do this type of thing they would lose their next election.

If you want Canada to move more in the Denmark style of society you can vote for the party you think will take the Country there.

Either way... I am not saying the Denmark system is wrong or right. It may be right for Denmark. It may not be right for every country as each country has a different set of values and goals.

You're getting closer.
Yes, billionaires buy politicians on both sides to get their way regardless of who wins and what people vote for.
Yes, you need to tax the rich to pay for social services and the result is a happier country except for those dozen or two billionaires.

Yes, there are some billionaires who use some of their money for good. But why do hospitals have to beg for money from millionaires and billionaires just to run? Hospitals should be funded by taxes and if there isn't enough cash to fund them tax the rich instead of begging for money from them through fundraising.

My final point in post 323 was what makes 1 group of people happy does not mean it will make another group happy. Who says Americans would be happy with Denmark social services? What works for Denmark will/may not work for America or Canada or another Country.

In your post 322 you said increase taxes in the US on the rich to Pre Reagan tax rates to have the rich pay a fair amount of taxes. That will not cover the additional costs of social programs you want in the US. Tax the rich is not the only answer.

You seem quite opinionated about how America should work. No offense but you do not understand Americans and from your posting history I can tell you don't understand the details of American society. I assume you live in Canada so why spend time on what they do or don't do south of the border when it does not impact you in Canada. Americans really don't care what you, or others, think so why waste all this time caring about them.

I am done now... I will let you go back to arguing with skoob.

You're still defending killing democracy by allowing billionaires to buy politicians.
Not only that, but you can only name one 'leftist' billionaire, which kills your only argument.

Why do you hate democracy?
I'm not defending anything other than democracy and denouncing your Communist ideals.
You can play "put words in someone else's mouth" all you want, it's not working for you.

Why do you assume I only found one? That was an example. Oh yes, you're distracting again...

Of those 22 billionaires, 13 -- or more than half -- gave predominantly to liberal groups or groups affiliated with the Democratic Party.

You are defending destroying democracy to give the power of the government to a few dozen billionaires.
Why do you hate democracy?

Why don't you want voters to decide what their country should do?

Haha so you pivot from accusing me of only naming one person after I provide more, and then conveniently move onto something else and make false accusations.

You're a legend! Lol!

Thanks for living up to my expectations.

Its the same issue, skoob.
We can go down the path to see who funds more politicians, though we both know that #1 are the half dozen genocidal billionaires funding AIPAC.
But really, you're still here telling us you think billionaires should be able to buy the government and that voters don't matter.

Why do you hate democracy?

Frank it`s way too late. Billionaires already won.

If a fake billionaire who was sued 3500 times during his life, had 7 bankruptcies, violated every rule of law possible and who is known to be a complete psychopath can rule the country can you just imagine the damage a real billionaire can do?

Ah, but rump isn't a real billionaire and that's the point.

He's a fascist who is a wanna be billionaire, so the question will be whether he'll be more interested in establishing those concentration camps for immigrants or more interested in forcing everyone to stay at his hotels, golf courses and paying tribute to him.

It'll be interesting to see how the real billionaires can deal with him, is he already bought by Putin and MBS or can they still own him somehow?
Will the AIPAC funding billionaires have the final say or just Putin?

I didn't say billionaires buy the government...you did.

Is that what you're resorting to now? Making up what someone said and then claiming it's their argument, and then you argue against them?

That's twisted.

Is it right or wrong for politicians to listen to billionaires instead of voters?

Do you support democracy or plutocracy?

I support democracy. You support Communism.

Let's start there comrade.

Tell us how much better Communism is compared to democracy. And don't try convincing anyone you believe in "democratic socialism" (which is basically Communism phrased in a different way to fool people like you.
