You may minimize the Fukker KKKonvoy, but they create days of hell for the local residents who are inconvenienced, insulted, provoked and intimidated. The Ottawans have every right not to be imposed on by bullies and idiots.
I don't sympathize with people who choose to live next to an airport, and immediately start complaining about the noise. Likewise, people who choose to live at the epicentre of government protests.

As to the "provoked, insulted", to a large extent this is made up/exaggerated by people with agendas. To the extent that it actually happens on the street, it's a pretty safe bet that the bad behaviour goes both ways.

Hey Mandrill, I don't think I've heard your take on the Ottawa Police telling lawyers at the protest who were advertising their services to "keep it moving". Do you think this is the proper role of police?

Sure. It that makes you feel better and believe my point has no merit...knock yourself out.
You really don't like the orange font, eh?
Whataboutism rarely has any real merit, just saying...

Isn't S'ad the same lawyer who complained about being bullied out of a Doug Ford rally? It seems her disdain for authoritarianism is quite selective.
I think she's pretty consistent. She despises right wing bullies.

Just not left wing bullies, or right wing bullies if they are bullying other right wingers. LOL!

Can you wrack your over-active imagination and suggest examples?

Did you miss the last kkkonvoy ? Women were spat on harassed assaulted.Men of color were harassed assaulted. Stores were closed. Christ even Tim Hortons had to close.including the liquor store. They stole food from the homeless they pissed on memorials and they shit on the streets.honked there horns 24 hours yelled screamed a few waved there nazi flags
Straight up nonsense, except for the part about honking. Stores foolishly closed because the cops suggested that they should do so.

Yah, my law colleague in Ottawa lied to me because he's secretly a Klingon.
Not sure if he's a Klingon, but if he gives you the time of day, I'd say his judgement is questionable.

I've watched hours and hours of coverage of the antics of the convoy, both from media outlets friendly to their cause and from networks anxious to paint the protesters in the worst light possible, and I have also spoken with people who were there for at least part of the protest. Unless your lawyer friend chose to spend days on end trolling around the protest and documenting his observations - on behalf of no client, and earning no fees for doing so - I'm inclined to think his politics are colouring his take on what actually happened, as would hold true for any undisciplined and intermittent observer of an event.

Nah, he's an unpolitical guy whose law firm happens to be downtown. The entire city hates the Fukkers. How would you feel if the BBBouncy KKKastle KKKlan camped on your street?

Then I doubt he spent the time to carefully document what was going on down there himself, or to watch much media coverage in order to separate the BS from the facts. Probably, like most lawyers, he spent as little time as possible on that and as much time as possible on earning fees.

I wouldn't like to live beside ANY protest, or ANY stupid parades, or ANY stupid bikerides/10K races. That's why I choose to live where I do. Anyone who chooses to live in Ottawa near the capital region CHOOSES to live at the epicentre of political protests - OF ALL STRIPES.

My advice to Ottawa snowflakes? Call your real estate agent, or stop whining and suck it up.

Maybe in your socially equal New Order, every working person can simply up and move and leave their job and go elsewhere. But that's the reality for most Canadians. I'm surprised that you're not more sensitive to that.

Who do you think lives near the Capital Region? It's not a poor area of the city. It's largely inhabited by civil servants looking to be close to work, and those who live off the government in the private sector (consultants, lobbyists, etc.). The entire city is relatively wealthy, with the average income being 15% above the Canadian average.

Ledbury-Heron Gate- Richmond is the poor area. That's a long way from the protests at Parliament Hill.

Have you EVER BEEN there?

Why would I know anything about Ottawa?

My colleague lives and works there. Rich or poor, how could the residents leave their jobs - just to accommodate the Bouncy KKKastle Brownshirts?
