Nothing wrong with Frankie's comment, I just hope it doesn't go that way. Don't want the Tiki Torch "good people" in my city.

How accurate is it to suggest that Ford is "Trump" of the North? Provincial overall immigration policy, for example, may differ from what Trudeau likes to do from federal level? Then, again wth do I know about politic, lol!

Unlike Quebec, Ontario does not have control over immigration.

That’s Ottawa’s domain

Get ready Trudeau, you’re next and you too Notley!!

Cheers

See this thread is Ford brand politics in a nutshell.

"Fuck you my team won! You're next cunt!" Really solid political discourse there.

I'm willing to vote for any party given the right circumstances and candidate because I'm not dumb enough to fall for the tribalism promoted by demagogues. Too bad not enough other people see it the same way.

Conversely, leftist brand politics are all about spewing doom & gloom when their candidate loses.
And anyone who supports someone else is labelled a racist.
That in a nutshell is the leftist playbook.

Perhaps you'd be more persuasive if you spread your message in one of those threads instead of just hanging out here and illustrating herb's apt description of this and others by the OP.

I guess it would be churlish to point out that some of the "deplorables" who voted for Ford and the PCs are better educated and more successful than some of the people who are mocking them.

Certainly, they're better educated and more successful than a number of the NDP candidates who made headlines during the campaign.

Just saying.

Did you even listen to what Ford campaigned on? He promised more new spending than even the NDP and combined with the extent of tax cuts his claims of financial responsibility were blown out the window.

Considering how badly the Conservatives squandered Alberta's Heritage Wealth Fund, they deserve to lose more than one election.

Given the choice, I prefer Doug Ford to Jason Kenney - he's as oily as Dalton McGuinty.

Sums up the agenda of the Ford die-hards. Who cares about building up the province when you can burn things down, just to piss off other people.
For crying out loud you are such a disillusioned baby.

Calm down and relax. You just had 15 years of being a follower and change will be difficult for you and several other die hard Liberals. The nanny state will go away and eventually you will find it will be easier to survive with less government.

Just put on your big boy pants and man up!

This is what I suspect will happen
Job 1 is to audit the books
Job # 2 is declare the debt as way worse than the fiberals stated (Can you say $370- 400 B )?
Job # 3 is to walk back the campaign promises as too expensive given the mess they inherited
Job # 4 Start dialing back on the spending

I seem to recall Jean Chretien campaigning on the promise of eliminating the GST.
Still waiting on that one
Jean was re-elected despite the renege
History will view Jean as a successful PM, with barely a footnote mention of the renege

The Liberals were in office for 15 years. The highlights of the party's legacy include:

- Unnecessarily driving up energy costs by wasting billions on grossly over-priced renewable energy projects.

- Pandering to the teachers' unions while the quality of education declined (particularly in math).

- Doubling the provincial debt to an unsustainable level, making Ontario the world's largest sub-sovereign borrower.

- Driving up the cost of living through the pointless cap-and-trade scheme.

Sorry, not sorry, but I don't think that would meet many people's definition of "building up the province." And Horwath was proposing to push that same agenda even further.

Wow, and the Ford's were only in charge of Toronto for a couple of years and achieved so much more.
- making Toronto a laughing stock by smoking crack and lying about it
- accusing the press of being 'maggots' while smoking crack
- enacting a 30 year tax increase while claiming they lowered taxes
- planning a 3 billion single subway station where a free to the city LRT was available

Since then Doug has screwed over his sister in law and bankrupted the family business.
Now on to Ontario!
