Had my truck stolen a few years ago and I may have to park it somewhere if I go away, it's an older truck that's easy to steal. Does the club actually work, haven't heard of them in a while, I was also thinking of flattening the tire, will that damage the rim, going to be gone about 6 days.

I was going to do that too, but with my truck they break the ignition first, by the time they figure out the battery is disconnected they have already smashed the ignition, I was looking for deterrents.

Well, since it's only 6 days why don't you just rent a secure garage?

It's in Cobourg, I checked all around for that with no luck, I found someone with a lot on the main street that will let me park there for some white rum, gotta love a boozer:p , think I'm gonna flatten the tire as there's other vehicles in the same place with flat tires.

It's an older truck in great shape and there's no way insurance would pay to fix it, they only pay for up to a small % of the book value. The kind of truck with 4 years left in it, yet it's still basically worthless in their eyes.

Club is useless. Get a hidden ignition interrupt switch, still get damaged though.

Or just remove the battery cable.

Someone tried to steal my car, broke the club with one kick, couldn't find the switch before they got interrupted.

Park it next to a police station. It will get towed and pick it up when you get back. Go see them first and ask them how much it will be. Maybe you can drive it and just leave it at the pound to save the tow charge.

Like Shiek said. Do not flatten the tires. The rims will survive, but sharp steel or aluminium sitting down with a couple of thousand pounds on then tires could wreck your sidewalls.

Take off the wheels and lower the chassis on blocks. It is most unappealing to thiefs if they have to actually work to steal something :D

'They stole a car to come steal mine (collector car: pro's), the club is made of scrap iron in the centre (crap). It will deter a casual thief, but not a pro. Hopefully the club will make them move onto the next car, but if it doesn't it is as useful as wrapping your steering wheel in kleenex.

Glad they didn't get your car, happier they didn't get mine.

Bottom line, don't rely solely on a visual deterrant.

Isn't there a self-storage operation in Cobourg? See if they have a big enough unit to back your truck in and rent it for 1 month.

There's a better product than the club (Thieves will just cut the steering wheel). It's one that doesn't go around the steering wheel but instead locks the brake pedal. I can't remember what it's called though.
