It is not about the amount of snow. It is the flash freeze, ice and wind.

Just because it is a winter storm doesn’t mean it has to be about The snow.
You do realize these guys are, ummmm, sorry, not allowed to say, lol....

I’m a couple of hours northeast of Toronto and we were without power for about ten hours today. Many thanks to the Hydro One workers out there working to restore power to people in very challenging conditions.

In a place far, far away
Don’t forget to charge devices or get a genie ready in case of power outrage.

Have a backup plan for accommodations in case it goes out for days.

Get some perishables ready as well.
Most important thing is to fill the bath tub with water for flushing the Crapper. :poop:

Over here in the Quebec Laurentians electricity is disappearing fast! And it's not yet even raining

I have a feeling it's gonna be a dark and cold Christmas :(
Quebec gets it power from James Bay. I heard those long power lines from James Bay are from the south of France and have problems in Quebec Winters.

I drove this evening. It was horrible: white wash, high wind has blown snows like crazy. I hardly saw my roadways and forgot about seeing my own lane where I was in. It was almost zero visibility in front of me.

Windshield wipers didn't work because they have been stuck solidly on the windshield from the earlier freezing rains. So I could not use my windshield wipers to clear anything on my windshield. All I could do was to turn on the front defroster while driving and it pumped out the highest level of hot air onto the inside of windshield to clear things on the windshield.

Road ways were slippery. In one of my brake at the red light, my vehicle kept going forward for another 5 meters before coming into full stop. So I was near the middle of the intersection and I had to reverse my car backward to be on top of the pedestrian crossing line. My tracking control warning was flashed up on my dashboard a couple times because the tires / wheels sensed no or minimal traction when going up or down the slopes on the roadways.

Surprisingly, there were several drivers still drove fast passing me as if the road condition was still perfect.

I will use the TTC tomorrow when I will go out again tomorrow. I don't want to take any more chance. While I was doing something outside this evening even for just 30 minutes, my toes of my feet felt lots of pain even I wore 4 pairs of socks and a winter boot.

Glad to hear you weren’t in a collision.
In winter I always drive with my heater set on defrost. If coldi turn on my heated seats.
I slow down and don’t care if people pass me because most likely I will pass them because they’re in a collision..
I have snow tires so getting up hills are not an issue. Being a sick fcuk I deviate towards hills, love going up. Going down hills are fun, just let your vehicle coast slowly don’t pump your brakes because ABS won’t work.
Your feet were cold because you wore too many pairs of socks. There needs to be some air between your feet and boots, it’s the air that helps keep the feet warm.
If you don’t have to go out don’t.
If you do props to you for deciding to take the TTC. (y)

Wind has cause two power outrages at home now. First was about 3 hours. Second is still going and projected to be out for 4 hrs and there was some power outage around 1am as well but I don’t know how long it was out for.

Some 350,000 are without power in Quebec.

I don’t know where else in Canada. But Ajax/Pickering had one, Peterborough, New Castle is out right now. Bowmanville has a small one.

Some reports are things won’t get fixed until tomorrow because the storm is still going. In Durham, crews have had their hands full. Gotta to give it up to these crews working out in this cold to make sure we have power.

Where I live the wind has calmed down but it's snowing pretty hard right now. Good day to watch football and eat pizza.

I'm looking out my window and there's about 5cm of snow. Not even close to 10cm.
Looking at the radar we wont be getting much more either
