I was about to see an SP today. I got to the location and one of the first things I see is a police officer outside a Tim Hortons right beside the hotel. I pulled a u-turn and got out of there. The officer was in a regular car, not a cop car. His prescence probably had nothing to do with the new law, but I couldn't take the risk.
Parked outside a Tim Hortons (and probably eating a donut)?

Are you kidding me?

(MPAsquared would love this one).

Good luck in the future though ripthejacker.

Funny, I just waved at the black helicopters following me all day. :D

The federal government will be watching very very closely as they must ensure that the neophyte law has some teeth.
The federal government has fuck all to say or do with the laws once they are passed. zip, zero, nadda. once laws are passed its up to the provinces, and municipalities To enforce. And from what i have been hearing, the feds shouldnt hold its breath. many cities across Canada have already said stick it to the feds on this one.

LOL

He was wearing an all black police attire, he scared me off. He wasn't eating, he was walking around the area. I know I'm looking way to deep into this, but I didn't want to take any risks.

Then I guess this bill is starting to have the affect the Government was hoping for all along

Frankly, if a cop was parked very close and outside a massage parlor, that might persuade me to re-schedule or bribe them with a coffee and donut combo.

Sure my address is on file with a potential agency. But unless they stuff a camera in the SPs snatch how would they know what actually went on between two adults.
Subpoena the SP and force her to testify against you and everybody else next to her name in the booking registry, on pain of perjury if she lies under oath. If she tells the truth she walks, if she lies to protect you she herself may face charges. Some clients will plea out, and their plea deals can be used to check if the SP is lying. C36 enables some pretty vicious police tactics IF they want to crack down.

Because its those high traffic in call locations that worry me.
Certainly the highest risk of being caught in the act, but note it was always possible to be arrested in a raid on an in call.

The main difference today is the C's wrote mandatory minimum sentences into C36 so you cannot plea down to an absolute or conditional discharge. You take the full criminal hit.

I'm unclear whether you would get the registered sex offender designation, up to the prosecutor apparently.

Mandatory minimums are already said to be unconstitutional. And also the minimum here is a $500 fine. If guys here can afford $160 for half an hour, I think they will be fine...

How can they prove perjury? You assume that LE will submit providers to such threats like as if a capital crime has been committed. That's not realistic.

The intent of the legislation is to protect sex workers, not intimidate them or prosecute them in other ways.

SP is subpoenaed to give testimony and says she did not have sex with John Terbie. However, John Terbie had already reached a plea deal admitting that he paid for sex. His confession is then used to prove the SP perjured herself.

In reality the SP will lawyer up and in light of the fact that telling the truth leaves her with no legal concerns her lawyer will strongly urge her to tell the truth.

The issue isn't the $500 per se, it is that the mandatory minimum eliminates an absolute or conditional discharge as a possible sentence. That means you carry the criminal record for life instead of it coming off your record in three years.

I think practically anyone here would happily pay $5000 to get a discharge instead of a $500 fine. I myself would pay $50000 to get an absolute discharge instead of a $500 fine, since an absolute discharge isn't considered a conviction by the US border services, whereas a $500 fine (or conditional discharge) is considered a conviction at the border, one that comes with a ten year ban on entering the USA.

Did you at least tell the sp why you didn't show up?

Anyone know if an incall to a private residence is legal? I think I read somewhere it was.
The female, whether in your private residence, incall, or at a spa has the power to make you a criminal by telling officers you paid her for sexual services. The law was enacted to make men less greedy sexually. Men must make sure they please the female sexually and make her cum so that she doesn't get angry and call the cops to arrest you.

Be nice, tip double the rate, and you MIGHT be safe.

But probably not...

I already been to spa today for a massage. Extras were offered and I partook. So I guess if LE are reading I am a criminal ripe for arrest.
Last night I stopped by Club Paradise on Bloor. It was very busy, there were line-ups to get a VIP booth. I did get a lap-dance the though the dancer was nothing special.

Let me tell you a funny South Asian expression

In over 30 languages (spoken in over 2500 dialects) in South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) there exists a vulgar expression that indicates "effect of extreme fear". The expression can roughly be translated in to English as "bum getting torn" (due to fear, is implied). Even if C-36 has done nothing so far, it has at least torn the bums of a large number of hobbyists (LOL). Perhaps, that is one of the purpose of the law .... deterrent!
