Now that they've gotten rid of coach killer Diego Costa, Chelsea are in good shape. Which leaves me scratching my head about Bonucci, ManCity offered him twice the amount he got from Milan.

Some good games the past couple of days, okay blowouts ... enjoyed late comeback by Chelsea yesterday... brackets beginning to take shape. PSG looked good Neymar is a good fit, ManU is in form but still early.

Hey Von, loved the Gattuso reference always loved to see him play even though I was an Inter fan, that used to bother my colleagues, hey what can you do? AC had a phenomenal lineup, even had love for the offside king Inzaghi !!!

PSG is loaded with great players...Mbappe' looked really good yesterday he's only 19, Ancilotti got fired

Carlino pays the price for Rummenigge's mistakes. Bayern are old and they looked geriatric against PSG. Getting pummeled by a young Milan in pre-season was not a fluke.

Milan nearly threw it away against an obscure Croatian club. Their defense is unsettled as a three man unit - Bonucci misses Chiellini. Cutrone saves the day with a late goal. M'bappe is getting all the accolades but Cutrone is just as good. I have a feeling that Carlino will eventually return to AC Milan.

Not being able to access the match, I had no idea how they fared in Lyon. The came out of it with a 1-1 draw, giving them a 95% chance of advancement. For a small club who's known for their Primavera, they are very impressive. Financially even Chrystal Palace has greater resources than Atalanta of Bergamo.

Composer Claude Debussy used to spend his summers in Bergamo, he wrote his most famous piece in memory of his happy times. The Suite Bergamasque - with that ubiquitous Lento.

PSG 3 Bayern 0

Now I say why PSG gave Verratti that big fat contract extension, with such an awesome attacking trident someone has to spring them before opposing defenses can get set. Motta and Rabiot were the holding midfielders, Verratti dropped back to defend whenever Bayern moved forward. He made four intercepts, one resulting in the second goal with the others coming close. Contrast that with how he was used against Spain, he's too small to be a holding midfielder - even though he has the heart of Gattuso. A recipe for disaster.
Why are you not mentioning Mbappe?

My favorite Dane, I did mention Mbappe. He's a phenomenal player who reminds me of Brazilian Ronaldo. But he also has the advantage of the CL, what the teen aged Cutrone is doing for AC Milan is just as remarkable but he's in Mbappe's shadow. I mentioned Verratti because he's the playmaker, playing as a deep threat like Pirlo used to do. Without him Mbappe, Cavani and Neymar would have to work much harder to get goals.

PSG 6 Bordeaux 2

After watching this, it's not hard to figure out why Neymar left Barcelona. He wants to wear the No. 10, he wants to be the trequartista, he wants to be the KAHUNA BURGER. At Barca, Messi wears the No. 10.

Roma 2 Milan 0

From misfortune comes revelation.

Florenzi looks fit but Roma may have lost Strootman. Considering the hardship he's endured, I hope it's not serious. He left the match in the half hour point with Pellegrini taking his place. At that point, the game was very much undecided with Milan having the advantage. Pellegrini changed everything, as Ray Hudson would say, he was magisterial! Control the game, making interceptions and setting up Florenzi's goal. This is the Pellegrini from the Euro Under 21 Tournament.

Canadian Bryan Cristante has finally gotten what he's always wanted, he's been called up to the Azzurri. From his strong play with Atalanta, it's well deserved.

It would be shocking if Argentina didn't make it to the World Cup, they are up against it.

The Albiceleste's new coach Jorge Sampaoli is doing something radical. Aguerro and Higuain have both failed miserably to gel with Messi, so Sampaoli is going all Italian. Icardi and Dybala will partner with Messi against Peru. Atalanta's Papu Gomez will be the ditributor. Anything less than a win and Argentina are out - I'll be watching.

Just an example of Total Dutch football when we put our minds to it.

Cavaet however, this was just an international friendly game against Uruguay with nothing on the line

Italy 1 Macedonia 1

Italy played their worst match of the qualifiers, Macedonia deserved to win. The Azzurri have been in disarray since Ventura's gross miss tactics against Spain. He probably has lost the confidence of his players, it may not be long before Carlino takes over. Otherwise Italy will not qualify.

Boznia Herzegovina are giving Belgium all they can handle, not surprising since most of their players are in Serie A.

I doubt it, The Azzurri are in disarray, Holland would win.

They were sent off the pitch to the Bronx Cheer. And the Italian press can be brutal when they under perform. They are already calling this squad, "La Squadra di Sacchi" after the edition that failed to qualify for the 92 Euro.

It looks likely that Denmark will make it into the 8 best two's. Christian Eriksen has been in phenomenal form lately.

Holland needs to win big over Sweden to have a chance to get in.

Kylian Mbappe vs Moise Kean, the future of European Football.

Mbappe turns 19 in December, Kean (pronounced Ken) turns 18 in January and as an adult can hire an agent. Juve must bring him back to Torino in January or risk losing him to a big money club.

Born in Velletri, the capital of prosecco country. His skill set is off the chart.

USA has been eliminated... couldn't even get a draw against T&T. To make things worse the other two teams won.

It almost looks like collusion, did the two Central American teams conspire to eliminate the gringos? There is a silver lining for the Yanks, they don't have to go to Russia and they have major talent coming up.

Italy still in disarray and dark clouds over Spain.

USA didn't want to go to Russia it was a political move as they are still unhappy about Corruption in FIFA about location picks and current relations with Putin.
