Thai Girl wanting to Make Money in Canada

I received this interesting e-mail. Not sure how to reply. I know all about the Russian situation working hard to pay back handlers but then free etc., but didn't know the Asian situation seems similar.

I assume no legal way for her to work in Canada, no high need for escorts like the Dancer thing in Montreal.

But some might find the situation interesting and I'm open to any wisdom to share with the writer:

I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine who is a prostitute in Thailand (yes... i met her as a customer; only girl i've paid in my life- hey, i was in Thailand! anyway, we've become friends and it is not a financial arrangement like so many farangs who fall for Thai girls. my resources are too limited- even if i wanted to help). as is common in Thailand, her family is very poor and she supports her mother and 4 year old son (Thai husband beat her and even burned her in a couple of places). after the Tsunami, tourism is down so much that many girls are not making enough money to support their families.

immigration to the west for Thai girls is nearly impossible (as i'm sure you know). i write you because she is seriously considering (she went and got her first passport last week), along with some other girls, having one of the illegal traffickers get her into Canada to work. it's the typical deal one reads about- girl then owes the trafficker money and has to work it off before she starts getting anything. the amount is 1 million baht- $25,000 USD. of course, they paint this as being 2 or 3 month's work and then the girl is free and keeps what she makes. obviously i do not want my friend in this type of slave-like situation.

i am writing you to see if you have any legal immigration solutions/ideas/loopholes (i read about the Canadian erotic dancer visa that got revoked in december- bad timing) she could pursue as an alternative. i do not have much money, but i would loan her airfare and the like to get her up and going if i found a way to get her into Canada or another western country where the higher price structure and the novelty of cute asian girls would work to her advantage. if only she could get a work permit in the US- she could make so much money in the relative safety of a nevada brothel. she is older (27) and it is easy to see how things are going to only get harder for her as she ages in a young girls' business- especially in Thailand. she knows this too and it is part of why she is considering such a desperate path. her friends, who are considering this as well, are beautiful girls between 19 and 25 years old. they have Thai passports but none have ever left Thailand (they just got their passports to do this). of course, my primary concern is her.

i am very worried that she will do this and essentially disappear in Canada if she takes the 'slave' route. she/they love Thailand and do not want to live elsewhere. they just need to make money for 6 months or so. 6 months working in Canada/US/comparable would provide them with enough money to dramatically alter their lives and the lives of their families. many of the girls would surely blow the money. in the case of my friend, i believe she would be the exception to the rule and would use it as an out. i know that sounds very naive on my part, but there are exceptions to the norm and i am confident that she falls into that category.

she is not my 'girlfriend' or anything of the sort. i know there are 1,000,000 similar stories in Thailand- but she is important to me and i have a lot of respect for her for her integrity/honesty. i don't have a financial ability to help, but i can google, read and, hopefully, come up with an alternative.

so... do you have any suggestions or contacts? i sincerely apologize for this email being so long.

thank you.

Place an ad for a husband

Well, the easiest way for her would be to marry into the country she wants to live in.

I had a friend who was a dancer here in Toronto. She told me that she used to work as an escort in Singapore, and planned to get out when she made her money. Unfortunately, even after stopping escorting, and then dancing (for 3 years). She went back to escorting. In Singapore, she married a German (client), and moved to Germany. After a year, the marriage ended and she again went back to escorting.

Unfortunately, sex trade workers get used to the easy money fast. And there's the peer pressure from her friends. Unless she develops real marketable skills with an education instead of her body, she will probably be stuck in the trade, until she meets some rich sugar daddy to take care of her.

Good Luck to your friend.

Canadian Visitor Visa

Hello Dave in Phoenix, regarding obtaining a legal visitor visa for a Thai female, next to impossible would be an understatement. I met a nice Thai lady when visiting Phuket in 1999. After my return to Toronto we kept in touch and eventually I invited her to come for a visit. Thai nationals need to have a visitor visa which can only be applied for in Thailand. They must also have a valid round trip plane ticket($1500-$2000) with a return date corresponding to their visitor visa. I also enrolled her in an Adult ESL class offered by the Toronto District School Board to help facilitate the process. Immigration Canada also required that I provide information on where she would be staying and also be responsible for any medical costs incurred. Once all these steps were completed she went to Bangkok and applied for her visitor visa at the Canadian embassy. Unfortunately her application was rejected on the basis that she also needed to maintain a bank balance of several thousand dollars for 6 months prior to her visit to demonstrate that she money to live off while visiting Canada. Ultimately it all comes down to the desecration of the immigration officer who is processing the application. Anyhow my suggestion if you can afford it would be to consult an immigration lawyer to outline the steps needed to make a successful application. I met an American there who married his Thai girlfriend and brought her to the US in just over a year. Cheers for now, Dabbler

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Tell this women to NOT get involved or near any of these guys that say they can get them into any country, they are sex trafficer's and one of the worse human beings (i'm sorry, they are not even human beings) in the world. Once she arrives in Canada and leaves the airport with this man she will immediatly be striped of her passport and will be living and working under horrific conditions.

Yes I do have a contact and the right people that can help her, SPOC, for which I am a councellor and spokesperson for. Dave, can you please call me at (416) 944-2990 so we can speak at greater detail so I can write everything down. At that point I send out a email to all the SPOC members and we will make sure she is taken care of and we can find her a safe work enviornment.

it's the typical deal one reads about- girl then owes the trafficker money and has to work it off before she starts getting anything. the amount is 1 million baht- $25,000 USD. of course, they paint this as being 2 or 3 month's or work and then the girl is free and keeps what she makes.
That information the trafficer tells the women is entirely false. Why would a trafficer give up a women to freedom in 2 -3 months or ever? when all the women they traffic are forced to work in horrible situations, servicing up to 15 men a day that allow these trafficer's to have nice cars and lots of money just to turn around one day because of their good graces and just let these women go? They don't. And this is a proven fact.

Please call me Dave, I really want to help your friend and you as well, before the predators get their hands on her. Sex Trafficing is an $18 billion dollar industry yearly. No sex trafficer's that have bought these girls are going to let any of them go, unless they contract a virus or try to flee, in which they just kill the girl. No trail back to them.

NO ONE SHOULD BE BOUGHT AND/OR SOLD AS A SLAVE EVER!!! & NO ONE SHOULD EVER THINK THAT THIS IS ACCEPTABLE!

Marriage would cut about 5-6 months off the process. Still, she'd be looking at close to a year before she could legally earn a penny inside of Canada.

Her best bet would be to manage to wash up on the shore of NFLD and claim refugee status.

Canada will grant refugee status for almost any reason, and once you get it, you're pretty much shuffled to the head of the immigration line. American citizens have managed to be granted refugee status even.

I totally agree with Annessa...to get caught up with those trafficers is a fast trip to hell for the girls...Dave your friend should do whatever he can to discourage the girl from entering the illegal and immoral sex slave trafficing web.

Best advice, get an immigration lawyer working on it. It will cost but the alternative is unacceptable.

Good luck!

Let's suppose for a moment that all the immigration stuff is worked out. Our mystery guest "helps" this lady get here and she finds a place to settle into. Now what?

Our mystery guest, despite his best intentions, is going to abandon her. I'm not for a second suggesting he is cruel or heartless - quite the opposite in fact. But in the end he's going to go on with his life and the lady will do what exactly?

This lady isn't trying to escape Thailand per se; she's trying to escape the life she's in. What she really needs to do is move on. Find a job in a hotel and clean rooms or something. Learn how to make rice noodles and sell them in the markets. Give her a small business loan and let her setup a shop / stall in a market. $1000 to us is a few hours of fun but over there it's a whole lot of money that can be used very constructively.

Bringing the lady over here won't solve anything for her. Getting her out of the biz will do wonders. But she has to want it - too many SPs complain about not having a normal life but then never make serious attempts to leave the biz. There's no point trying to force someone to do something. If this Thai lady is genuinely trying to exit but just lacks some financial backing, then give her what she needs.

If the desire for change is truly there, then assist that desire. Otherwise move on and avoid the free handout that leads nowhere.

Good point , but again it's quite difficult for most of them to leave the biz as easily as we may think.

Financial help will be limited from that " friend ", as stated already. Really tough situation ... I wish her all the best.

I hope you meant "discretion"!!! (?)

Good for you Annessa for your work.

Failing that, education visa for diploma programs, to help her leave the profession. True, schooling is not cheap, but some schools gear toward oversea students offer installments and loans. If your friend care, he help sponsor her.

I helped an oversea Ex (not in biz) escape her abusive family and messed up country into U.S. There are so many bad elements in the states. It could easily be biggest mistake of my life leaving her to fend for herself. Despite my best efforts, she insists on it. She's now married with a family, not mixed with the wrong crowd or dead in back alley somewhere.

Thanks for some outstanding replies.

I will pass on most of the responses to her friend who contacted me.

I have also now learned it seems she has no problem with sexwork, its just so slow in Thailand now. She just left to try Singapore and she says not much better situation than in Thailand - just not busy enough. Doesn't need a visa to get into Singapore and has a Thai passport.

I will keep monitoring this thread if other comments, or respond back if any new developments.

Again appreciate all the great replies which I will pass on.

Between a rock and a hard place
So this is going to be one of the after results of the Tsunami disatser? Sex trade workers will gladly surrender to North American slave traders? Will Canada Customs and Immigration be turning a blinder eye than normal? :(

Apparenly there is a organized group getting Thai's into Canada. Probably more likely via Vancover however than Toronto.

I am a bit surprised tourism is still down to much... Places like Bangkok and Pattaya weren't really effected by the Tsunami. But maybe all the gals in Phauket are trying to work in Bkk and Pattaya also.

Thank you for speaking up. This is a disgrace and should not be tolerated.
If a women agrees to pay $25,000 to get into Canada and work long hard hours with lots of restrictions a "slave"? Like the Russian situation.

Most are very happy to be slaves and once paid their debt free in Canada to have a far better life then they would ever have at home. Often sending a lot of money to support family back home.

Is this slavery? I don't think so and that is the common situation with the Russian and Asian "trafficking". They know its for being a prostitute, they agree to the terms just like the Thai lady would.

We at least know with the Russian situation it is not nearly as bad as lots of folks were concerned about in the past.

Hi Dave,

I'm sorry Dave but you are incorrect. I have spent countless amounts of hours reading underground books, doing online research, having the right connections (people) obtaining information that the masses (public) can not easy find, etc. Women that are being sex trafficed into Canada are being trafficed into Canada's 3 major cities. Vancouver & Toronto & Montreal. This is another proven fact.

Dave,

I don't know where you are getting this information or idea from but you are so far away from the truth.

Most are happy being slaves
Are you farking kidding me?!?
I'm sorry Dave but now I am questioning your mental state in dealing with this whole matter because NO ONE in their right mind would like to be a slave, please bring to me these people that say 'they don't mind or they like being a slave'

There is no Russian and Asian trafficing, not in the sense of what you think.
There are only 4 major crime organizations that deal with the sex trafficing of women. I won't name them publically for my own safety.

When the Soviet Union broke-up in 1991 and smaller countries were formed/freed (Moldova, Ukrain, Russia, Romania - also know as (NIS) Newly Independent States) this is where all the trafficed women come from.
From there they are sent/shipped to Serbia (Pristina) where there resides "The Breaking Ground" where they starve, beat, rape, the most unimaginable things happen to these women. They are kept in a locked apartment 24/7 with a guard and anywhere from 20-40 'newly picked' women.
The brothal owner will bring in 5 guys into the room and grab one woman and drag her to the middle of the room where infront of all the other women, this woman will be raped anally by all 5 men and if she resists (which every woman does in the beginning) she is also burned with cigarettes and beaten while she is still being raped and fighting for them to stop. If the woman does not give in she will be either beaten to death or shot in the head infront of all these terrified sex trafficed slaves. At that point, most of the women obey because they have witnessed what will happen to them if they do not do what they are taught and told to do. Once these women are 'broken it' at that point they are trafficed all over the world, To Turkey, Israel, Iran, Baltics, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, U.K, Canada, U.S.A and many other places.

Dave, You are way over your head with this one and what disturbs me the most is you don't have the facts and you want to help this women?
Read the book 'THE NATASHAS' by Victor Malarek and CBC television released a 4 hour movie called 'SEX TRAFFIC' which was released about 1 year after the book (I have it recorded on VHS) 'SEX TRAFFIC' is all based on the 2 year undercover research that Victor Malarek was doing over there by pretending to be a 'john, a man interested in buying women, etc. anything but what he really was, which is a journalist for CBC. They (CBC) decided/realised that they needed to bring this travesty that is happening to many, many, many women and children to the masses since 95% of the masses had no idea this was happening.

It's been over a week Dave, why have you not contacted me yet if you are so concerned about this Thai woman? That's what puzzles me.

Dave's logic

Dave in Phoenix is an apologist for every aspect of the sex trade. He's one of those people who'd like to believe that nothing bad ever happens, because that's the only way he can deal with it, given the fact that he's such an avid hobbyist himself. Haven't you noticed that before?
