im taking a vacation there this year. any places that are a must see. besides the ocean. i have looked into it and it all sounds great. wondering if anyone has been there recently. any info is appreciated. thanks.

I'd suggest trips to Tulum and Chichen Itza. The history of Chich especially is amazing. If you do go, be prepared for unbelievable heat and humidity. Tulum is on the sea so you can always jump in to cool off...

You certainly want to be aware of where you are going and stick to tourist areas. Those two areas will be fine...Mexico is a failed state with out of control violence. Not even Cancun or Acapulco are safe anymore.

I've never been to Mexico, but have been to the Dominican Republic several times, loved it. I've been to Jamaica once, and going to Jamaica again next weekend for a week of fun and frivolity.
I wanna hear some stories about swinging or nudist beaches on these trips! lol

Cancun and the Myan Riveria is all pretty safe, take taxi's if you're worried - they're cheap and well regulated. Get ot Coba if you can - inland from Tulum. Huge ruins still in the jungle - very cool! Also Playa del Carmen is a good little town - where the ferry goes to Cozumel.
Acapulco is a toilet. there was garbage every where on the streetsI have been to Acapulco twice and will repeat... IMO the media over does it a bit....

No way you can swim in the bay, I saw a turd float by as a walked along the beach!
The sand was very coarse and uncomfortable to walk on, you need to wear sandals all the time
There is abundant night life, I will grant that to the city
I had some local approach me and say
"Hey mister, want my sister" and he was serious
When I declined his offer, he then asked if I want a boy and he was serious
I thought about smashing him in the face, but my better judgment prevailed and I just walked away
A couple of locals became way too aggressive with some the lades from the resort
If we had not intervened and got he girls out of there, I suspect those girls would have gotten fucked whether they want to or not.
Over-all I was very disappointed in Acapulco and would not recommend it to anyone
awesome idea, but the price is outragoues. $1100 - 1700 for one night, lol
