Apart from moral support, or lobbying the Biden administration for federal aid, what can a Senator do about a power outage in his state?

What is the Biden administration doing to address the problem? Or, probably most appropriately, the Governor of Texas?

Not much meat on this story, but it doesn't have the ring of Cruz abandoning his post.
What can he do? He can work with FEMA and state officials to ensure emergency aid is delivered to the right places, disabled people get genertors or assistance in moving to warming centers. Enough military is mobilized to the right places. He can seek assistance from other senators from there states. ensure power officials are doing their best etc etc. He can also work on legislation to prevent this from happening in the future.

That would seem to be his mission as senator: understand what is happening and propose changes so it will not happen again.

Catching sun in Cancun is not helping.

Er um, he could stay and be a leader, fight for his constituents even if low on the power totem for this, guess he never served (for real) in the military, for crying out loud leadership is pretty much 85% being there, first in the door, last out. He would run like the wet excrement he is.

Hey Dutch. Remember all those inspiring film docs about Winston Churchill walking through the bombed-out ruins of London during the German bombing raids, comforting the families who had lost loved ones and cheering on the emergency crews. He didn't have to be there either. There was nothing he could do to bring the dead back to life, rebuild those homes or stop the German bombers night after night.

If Winston Churchill were Cruz he'd be sitting in a luxury vacation mansion somewhere 300 miles away from London suntanning and partying with his buddies with his phone on DND.

CNN are hilarious... weren't they comparing previous administration to Nazies for 4 years?

(CNN) In politics, there are a few unwritten rules that every good politician adheres to. Don't compare any situation to Nazi Germany. Don't get out of step with your party base. And perhaps most importantly, when things go sideways for your constituents, don't go on vacation.

Trump trying to steal the 2020 election is something the Nazis wouldn’t have had to do, they would have made sure they stole it.

No surprise that Bud defends this.

What most people do not realize, is that the NAZI party had in its ranks some of the most capable people of the 20'St century. Herman Goering for example. (Not the best people, but the most capable)

Trump and Giuliani are bumbling idiots.

Heidi Cruz's tweets were leaked to the NYT and they're a hoot. She invites other rich people to join them and party at the Ritz-Carlton because TX was too cold.

Text messages sent from Ms. Cruz to friends and Houston neighbors on Wednesday revealed a hastily planned trip. Their house was “FREEZING,” as Ms. Cruz put it — and she proposed a getaway until Sunday. Ms. Cruz invited others to join them at the Ritz-Carlton in Cancún, where they had stayed “many times,” noting the room price this week ($309 per night) and its good security. The text messages were provided to The New York Times and confirmed by a second person on the thread, who declined to be identified because of the private nature of the texts.

Reworking the lyrics to an oldie by Edward Bear (yes that was the band’s name):
Thinking of you, down in Mexico
Feeling free as the air
Here I am, stuck with no water
And no power to spare.
