Damn, where are all the drum and bass junkies?
I feel so alone in this TERB universe when it comes to music. :)

LTJ and Goldie are a bit soft.
Lets try some Shy FX, Mampi Swift, DJ Craze, Dillinja, Andy C, Usual Suspects, Twisted Individual and a few others. :) I miss my old school Jungle as well. Congo Natty is a big time fave.
Thanks for keeping me company incognito.

I'm Mr. Treble.
Old school Dance

Yesterday was amazing, cruising up Yonge street with Blonde's Heart of glass. And Global DJ's Somebody's watching me.

Techno is a broad category, it ranges from trance to dance/house music. Most of the DJs/artists have been mentioned by others. You'll probably find at least 10 different mix/remix of the same song by different DJs.

As for compilation series, there are a number of series available. "Drum and Bass" have already been mentioned. You could also try "Ministry of Sound", "Defected in the House" or the "Hed Kandi" series.

How about Herbie Hancock? I'd heard he was one of the first, mondern techno musicians.
I'd put him more in the jazz/ r&b category. Yes he used electronic instruments but so did Depeche Mode/ New Order and they are true dance pioneers. Tho' it all leads back to Joy Division. Gods, I tell you!

Actually, Techo is Techno. House is house, trance is trance and happy hardcore is happy hardcore. To the uninitiated, they can sometimes sound the same, but make no mistake that they are different.
If you want to lump them all into a category, it would probably be more suffice to say they are a form of Electronica or Electronic Music.

Yes, you are right. I actually meant electronica which is the section in the music store that they are filed under. Next time, I needed to be fully awake before I post. :p

Ah, right in Toronto, you guys have this project called Boshke beat or something like that, they are playing at the most progressive festivals, and they are worth listening.

Has anyone heard of Buddha Bar? What is it? Is it a group?
There is a bunch of compilations by that name appealing to the more "spiritual" techno and ambient music with Asian influences.

But, there is also a ton of bars and nightclubs bearing that name.
