Sorry to double post but I was not getting a response in the tech section.

I have a DVD player in my computer however, it is missing the drivers so when ever I place a DVD in it, it fails to run. So my question is which FREE DVD program should I install.

Are you sure it is DVD player and not a CD player?

Are you missing the drivers to run the DVD burner, or are you missing software to use with the DVD burner? Or both?

The brand is LG, and I am missing both. I have used other players to play dvd but I was wondering which is the best and most commonly used player hence I asked, joebear.

Any insight would be helpful!!

So many DVD/Burners out there, almost all come with a "free" OEM subsidized software bundle - I'm sure this can be found in some file sharing site.

first when the dvd drive is installed, windows will recognize it and install the right hardware driver for it, no need to go to the manuafactur's website.

second, you may have to flash the firmware for the dvd drive if you want to burn the latest blank dvd/cd specifications (assuming you want to copy dvd's). go to http://www.imgburn.com/ and get a copy of that program. start the program, in the destination window, right click on your drive, scroll down and check for firmware updates. It will also tell you your current firmware version, WRITE IT DOWN. Download the latest version and flash at your own risk.

third, if you want to watch dvd movies on your computer Windows does not come with it's own mpeg (dvd) decoder, you have to get windvd, power dvd or whatever program you want to use, they have a dvd decoder built it.

fourth, if you want the dvd movie to automatically play when you insert a dvd into the dvd drive, you have to have the autoplay option turned on, go to my computer, find your dvd drive, right click and highlight properties. Go to the Autoplay tab and in the window select Dvd movie ( you will see other options music files, etc) then select an Action to Perform and select whatever program you want to use to watch your dvd movie and click apply. When you insert the dvd movie into the dvd drive it will now automatically start playing in the program you selected.

before putting the dvd movie in, put your microwavable popcorn into the microwave and press the popcorn looking button on the microwave. If you watching porn then get enough kleenex or toilet paper on hand, I assume I don't have to direct you to the washroom do I ?
